GPA 3.3 LSAT 167 - low gpa may get some consideration because it is on a B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Politics - undergrad UVA - how about you?

3.6 164. Not quite auto-reject but hardly great for Georgetown--I'm holding outside hope for a WL as its one of maybe two I'd seriously consider staying on.question7 wrote:GPA 3.3 LSAT 167 - low gpa may get some consideration because it is on a B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Politics - undergrad UVA - how about you?

something is making them think our apps over, something special or different on your app. that puts you in this "hold" - I'm guessing it's the physics for me. what other options are you looking at - I'm also still waiting on Duke and BU - in at Emory, BC and William and Mary - waitlist at Cornell and Vandy

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I have a friend that was on the regular wait list and got accepted in August after he put down his second deposit for Cornell. Don't give up hope.zz888 wrote:lawschoolhopeful16 wrote:I'm on the regular waitlist and must admit that, from what I've learned thus far about the admissions process, that regular waitlist = "probably rejected." Given my past communication with the admissions office, I get a very bad vibe about the prospects for individuals on the regular waitlist. What is the general consensus about the regular waitlist? Can anyone report an instance in which an applicant was accepted from the regular waitlist?
On a separate though related note, I almost wish I'd been outright rejected rather than placed on the waitlist. As least the former is more conclusive whereas the latter likely has the same result (rejected) but keeps people who genuinely want to attend the Law Center in a state of flux. Law schools admissions is easily the most miserable process I've ever endured.
I'm in the same boat. The way I interpreted it, is that there are always a couple here and there who are admitted off the regular waitlist, but it is by no means a situation where the odds are in your favor. The people who i've heard getting in also have heard in in August....

Hi, this is my first post, but I promise I'm not a troll! Yes, my app updated for the third time today, too. No update on citizenship, though. So, this means...something?

For me it was almost a month, but that was earlier in the cycle, no idea how they're doing it now.PRgradBYU wrote:In via snail mail today!

Nope. Status checker updates from Gtown are meaningless. Although a few weeks ago in this thread we did some fortune telling by correlating your status checker update month and day to a respective chapter and verse in the book of Proverbs. That's as meaningful as it gets.aburritoandataco wrote:Hi, this is my first post, but I promise I'm not a troll! Yes, my app updated for the third time today, too. No update on citizenship, though. Darn. Well, thanks for info! And just for kicks, for me, it's Proverbs 4.4: "He taught me and said, 'Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live.' " From what I hear, though, most people end up dying. So that was a bit of a fib.

I emailed the office to check on the status of my app. They told me they mailed me a decision yesterday. That's good right?
Has anyone recieved a withdraw or rejection via snail mail?
Ahhh... at least it will put an end to this angsty anticipation one way or the other.

The date on the letter is 3/28. And country of citizenship? How would I go about checking that? (Although there's really nothing to update...)CourCour wrote:2 Qs. Whats the date on your letter?PRgradBYU wrote:In via snail mail today!

It would show up on the top left box when you log in to the status checker. According to this blog they fill it in as a precussor to getting in.PRgradBYU wrote:The date on the letter is 3/28. Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I'm confused. How much is the estimated Costs and Fees for Georgetown? I got my awards letter, and with grants + scholarships + loans = 66,000, but isn't Georgetown around 70k+?
Also, does Georgetown cut into aid if you're coming in with outside scholarships? I just got one, and I'm afraid they'll just cut all of my need-based aid.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
