I'm surprised you were deferred, but your chances should be good with those numbers. It's probably just a matter of time.deffoe wrote:Sitting at 170/3.50.hunter.d wrote:What are your numbers?deffoe wrote:Like nordi, I also just got the deferral E-mail for early applicants. Final decision to be rendered by the end of February.
"Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have had their applications held, and a number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted."
WTH does this really mean?
Is this substantively different from getting waitlisted?
How many people does this happen to each cycle?
Does anyone have a breakdown of how many deferrals actually turn into admits?
Finally, is there anything I can do to help my case? I was considering E-mailing them and letting them know I would now like to be considered for both the full- and part-time programs (I originally just indicated full-time).
Might this bump me into part-time admit territory, or will this just look like bad judgment and end up hurting?
Any thoughts are appreciated in this sticky, frustrating matter.
Thanks peeps for the encouraging words.

Thanks! Postmarked on 11/2. From what I remember, after my app went complete, it was updated twice. I could be wrong about that because I haven't been checking on any of them very frequently.venus wrote:Congrats!!! Just got in today! I got in two years ago when I first applied, but I turned it down for TFA. Super excited!

Sent 9/24, complete 9/27, and the only dates I can remember are 10/23 and 11/2, though I think there was one update before then.

FYI: sent 10/5, complete dates of 10/9, 10/17, 10/24, and 11/2. Letter dated 11/1.
Congrats to all who are already accepted. Best of luck to those still waiting.

Sorry to hear that, bro. Like hunter said, the deferral is better than a waitlist. After all, it should mean that they're still considering your app. Stay positive and good luck for the rest of your cycle.Manhattanman wrote:Just got the deferral e mail. Hoping that this works out for us in the end. Not sure if this is the same as a wait list, but it least it is not a rejection. Congrats to those admitted, and good luck to those of us who haven't. Cheers.

anybody apply/accepted to the part-time program?
and, do you think it would be the same amount of time to receive a decision?

Add one more to the accepted pool!
After a stressful day of projects, this was pleasant surprise. I especially appreciated the handwritten note.
For those keeping track, RD, Submitted 10/15, Complete 10/15 (I don't think that's quite right, but that's what my LSN says), never bothered checking the status checker, got a letter postmarked 11/2 today. No idea if my recommenders received thank-you emails. Looking forward to visiting! It'll be my first time in D.C.
Also, most of you know this already, but for those who don't, the letter came in a small, thin envelope. Scared the hell out of me when I saw it.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
So today I received an email inviting me to a group interview next Tuesday. I want to go as a way to show my interest but I wish they had said something sooner! I will have to fly (which will cost around 300 and I am super low on cash because of apps) and I have a job.
If it were an individual interview there would be no question but it is a group one for all Returned Peace Corps volunteers.
What do you guys think?

IDK man, that seems like a little bit much just to show your interest.

I have decided to go but it will be cheaper to drive. At the same time, I can do a campus visit and maybe stop in at UV or W&M on my way back so I can get more in for the trip.
My numbers are good but I am not a lock so I am hoping every little bit will count
