I got a hold email two full days after my 3rd update. They were trollin' hard. No one is safe.abtky wrote:Interview 11/20
Update 11/21, 11/28, and 12/3.
No email yet so I'm hoping to get a letter later this week!! Any chance they'll send a delayed email?

Thanks for the info . I was asking b/c my housemate told me I had a letter waiting for me at home and I didn't think I had time to go check the mail. I rushed home -- beyond excited right now!

Were all you guys with the holds applying ED or RD? I submitted an ED that was received on the 21st, now says complete with a date of 11/27, just wondering what kind of timetable I should be expecting

From what we're seeing, do people see GULC's hold as more of a YP, wait and see how the cycle plays out or some frankenstein mixture of the two?
I could be far off, but I wouldn't fret too much about a hold because I think there is still a pretty bright shine of hope in it.
Regardless, I hope you ED candidates find your way off of hold and waitlist, considering you were willing to take that leap of faith!

I get the feeling, from my individual scenario, that hold candidates are people they have really considered admitting, but are on the fence about how it will affect their medians & 25/75 percentiles, so they are holding off to see how the entire applicant pool shapes up.
I say this because many would consider my #'s auto-reject and I got put on hold. I'm a URM and I have a really good story, so I get the vibe that they are seriously considering my app, otherwise, with my #'s, they could have easily rejected me without thinking twice about it.
That's my guess.

The bolded can be a game changer though, too. You may consider your #'s auto-reject, but to them, you might contribute to that other table that says, "[insert URM group] xx%slawww wrote:Also curious.matthewsean85 wrote:From what we're seeing, do people see GULC's hold as more of a YP, wait and see how the cycle plays out or some frankenstein mixture of the two?

They care about that table nearly as much as they do the table of LSATs and GPAs from everything I've seen

That is definitely a valid point, I guess being on the lower end of the T-14 it is hard to find URM's with 16X+ scores, but even so, I'm surprised and happy to still be in the game.matthewsean85 wrote:The bolded can be a game changer though, too. This year especially, it ain't over till it's over. I never thought I'd have a shot at admission, but I got a pre-December acceptance, so this is a whole different ball game.slawww wrote:That is definitely a valid point, I guess being on the lower end of the T-14 it is hard to find URM's with 16X+ scores, but even so, I'm surprised and happy to still be in the game.matthewsean85 wrote:The bolded can be a game changer though, too. That is very true. I checked your LSN and you may not be auto-admit #'s, but still really solid credentials. Better than my #'smatthewsean85 wrote:

Thanks a lot man. If it makes you feel better, I'm applying to be a Navy JAG right now and there is a slim chance they're going to let me do it, which implicitly would mean I'd be reconsidering all my options, so a slot I might have otherwise taken could very well open up. I doubt I'm the only one on the fence about vacating their seat, but it's gotta give some hope to those on the hold and WL list.slawww wrote:That is very true. True, it does help a bit! Also, I'm going to PM you about JAG because that is my goal.matthewsean85 wrote:Thanks a lot man. First Acceptance of the Year!!! Way stoked I had my last update on the 26th and was worried because everyone else with that update had already received their letters. I am definitely the lowest GPA Splitter: 170/3.2

Side note for "feelslike12", you must also wish that Michigan (or a dreamer school) doesn't accept me.
PS Don't wish too hard

I thought the consensus was both hold/wl and dings are via email, only acceptance is via snail mail? Remembered there was a discussion a few pages ago. Anyone who got dinged through snail mail?Crowing wrote:Hold/WL are via e-mailtroar21 wrote:Longtime reader - first time poster. Any consensus on the method Gtown uses for notification? Dings are also via snail mail

There are at least two lower on lsn-both with higher lsat scores, so others take heart.
