Ah well.
Same thing here as well. WL at Duke in December. Got WLed today from Michigan. I'm expecting it too from Stanford. I applied in September and still haven't heard anything.ashBgrove wrote:Exact same situation, but higher Gpa and lower lsat. Priority WL at Duke after after applying PT and now WL at Michigan. I'm still waiting on a ton of schools and hopefully a js2 and I thought this was a terrible omen but after seeing the post here, I feel a bit better.spyder11 wrote:WL email for me as well. This is the second school to have waitlisted me when I have stellar numbers (first one was Duke). I think it because of their emphasis on yield and perhaps they think I'm overqualified. Regardless, I was actually interested in both schools and this whole WL thing is a pain in the butt (I mean I interviewed with Harvard for crying out loud!)
174 LSAT and 3.89 GPA

don't take it personally. they aren't giving you money because you will get in / some from HCCNWhiskeynCoke wrote:WL yesterday. 179/3.47, no why Michigan. I was really hoping for some Michigan $$$ love.... derp.
She didn't write anything on mine.Micdiddy wrote:Michigan is awesome. They have the standard letter sent to all admits, and then the dean hand wrote a personal greeting referencing information in my PS and our previous email correspondence.
I'm sure she does this for everyone, but that's ok I still feel special.
Congrats!!Micdiddy wrote:Michigan is awesome. They have the standard letter sent to all admits, and then the dean hand wrote a personal greeting referencing information in my PS and our previous email correspondence.

That's so sad. All they did was give you a Darrow? No note? I'm so sorry.elterrible78 wrote:She didn't write anything on mine.Micdiddy wrote:Michigan is awesome. I've been a Red Sox fan since before most of you were born. I'm used to dealing with disappointment, but thanks for the condolences.Micdiddy wrote:That's so sad. All they did was give you a Darrow? Congratulations on getting in. But to everyone else who was just waitlisted, I think you can see that they probably have a reduced expectation of the students they can pull.texas1990 wrote:holy crap. just checked my status checker since i hadn't in a while and i'm in. should probs check more often since it seems people got in thursday lol. stats: 166/3.83 non-urm. congrats to all the other admits! can't wait for asw.
Well, all the schools YP.. which is probably what is happening for those that got WL'd with high numbers at Michigan as well. Your comment about reduced expectations is NOT warranted. For example, both Berkeley and UPenn took folks that were well below their LSAT medians -- and WL's many others that were above 75th percentiles.PBateman1 wrote:Congratulations on getting in. Doubt that's YP from Berkeley. They just crazy yo.curious66 wrote:Well, all the schools YP.. which is probably what is happening for those that got WL'd with high numbers at Michigan as well. You obviously don't understand Boalt. UC in general, and Boalt in particular, disdains standardized testing, since it limits the pool of applicants that they are seeking. So WL'ing high LSAT scores is SOP, absent a compelling story (think about why Boalt allows a 4 page essay). For example, both Berkeley and UPenn took folks that were well below their LSAT medians -- and WL's many others that were above 75th percentiles.
I think that it is pretty clear in context that PB was saying that SCHOOLS have reduced expectations, not that applicants should have reduced expectations. Hence, more YP for high numbers and less waitlisting for marginal numbers.curious66 wrote:Well, all the schools YP.. which is probably what is happening for those that got WL'd with high numbers at Michigan as well.
