I feel like the only reason I "escaped" a ding was because they haven't gotten to my application yet. I applied mid Nov, later than some of the people that got dinged.

maybe it's because they're afraid what will happen if they ding you since you're jesus

Apparently some adcoms do work sundays. I received an email response (not pre-drafted) from Emory on Sunday at 7:30 PM EST.
