So... I went to log in to the admitted students site (I was admitted a few months ago), and it redirected me to the status checker page, which says it was updated today. This happen to anyone else?

I'm sure it's just a glitch or something, but I'm secretly hoping that it means they will be giving me piles of need-based $$$.

If anyone is able to get into the admitted student site, post it and let me know what's up. I don't deal well with change.

last time I checked before the glitch, in my 'financial aid award info" tab there was what looked like a federal direct loan estimate . . . don't know if that was supposed to be there or not.

Are we sure about that? I know they say in the initial letter they do not usually compete with other offers, but has anyone actually tried?
Bump for this question. Anyone know of anyone who successfully negotiated aid from Michigan? Got their offer in the mail today, 10k/year. I would love to go to Michigan, but not sure I could justify paying that much in light of the other offers I've received.

I'm certainly going to try, especially if I don't end up receiving any aid. An email I received today technically said, "And in cases where no outright merit scholarships or need-based grants are offered, the Financial Aid Office is occasionally able to take awards from competing schools into account," but negotiating law school scholarships is a timeless tradition. I'd be surprised if Michigan was unwilling to consider negotiating offers from peer schools.

I was told by a guy in financial aid that they would negotiate, but that they would only do it once.

Yeah, just got mine, I'm confused, how come the loans and my merit aid don't add up to full tuition?.....loans aren't free money, you have to pay them back. Where do I come up with the other $20,000? I'm poverty level broke.

You can get GRAD PLUS loans to cover the rest.

My family's income is <<<<<$40k so this really doesn't make any sense to me.

Email and then you have to login to the like "wolverine access" website which is unnecessarily complicated

ah, okay. yeah, got that too -- but since it was only the Fed. Stafford I was unsure whether you were talking about a separate email/letter (like some other schools do).

and yeah, that was quite the labyrinth. ha

Although I received my email a few days after I noticed a new financial aid package on the ASW.

They originally said I wasn't eligible (which is ridiculous), and I've been talking/sending requested tax returns, scholarship info, etc. to the FA Dean since, but she still hasn't had me fill out the Need Access, and it's been like a week since I've heard anything. Which is off putting.

What's the appeal process like? They already have my Need Access form.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
