I really thought Michigan and UVA would be rolling them out this week but they both have been pretty silent. Maybe next week?

Got the Dean's Scholarship this morning via status checker! That really puts a big notch in Michigan's column.

Still ED complete. Can't tell if this is horrible or just slightly bad.

Although, to be fair to us ED'ers, we waited until this week to start neurotically sperging out. Can you really blame us?

Re: Michigan (AKA Hogwarts) c/o 2016 Applicants Thread 2012-2013
Thank you so much for applying to the University of Michigan Law School under our Early Decision Plan. We are able to admit a very limited number of Early Decision applicants each year, and I am sorry that your application was not among the few we selected. We will, however, continue to consider your application with our regular decision pool.
Please be assured that not receiving an offer under our Early Decision Plan is not the equivalent of a denial. We are necessarily conservative with the offers we make under the Early Decision Plan, and every year we make some regular-decision offers to people who were not initially successful. We certainly expect to do so again this year. We will contact you as soon as we make a final decision.
To be clear, your application remains under review at Michigan Law School, and we very much appreciate your demonstrated interest. Please feel free to contact the Admissions Office by telephone (734.764.0537) or by email (law.jd.admissions@umich.edu) if you have any questions.

Was ED, just received the message below. Does Michigan ever deny people from ED, or does everyone roll into the regular decision pool? How likely is it to get an offer now? Has any one been strictly denied from ED????

You'll be rolled into the RD pool. I don't think they flat out reject people directly from the ED program.

De facto rejection, bummer
Do you know if ED no-decision folks ever get in from the regular app pool?

Yeah, and that was a nicely worded email. My interactions with UVA ED made me less sure I'd want to go there. Dean Z makes me want in so bad.slack_academic wrote:Sorry to deferrals, but you guys aren't out of this yet. You're just RD now like the rest of us... which is pretty kewl.

Michigan finds ways to make themselves more and more appealing at each turn. I'm becoming a fangirl at this point.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:Yeah, and that was a nicely worded email. Eh, the super friendly tone is starting to sound a bit hollow to me, though I'm just bitter because I HATE WAITING.dproduct wrote:Michigan finds ways to make themselves more and more appealing at each turn. I'm becoming a fangirl at this point.

So...are there things one can do while waiting for final decisions in the RD pool? Does emailing additional information or recent accomplishments help, or is that only helpful if you're waitlisted?

it's what i'm doing. Though it's a better explanation of my background which isn't seen in my Resume, PS, addendum, etc. might try and get an additional LOR too.

Sending additional info would likely delay the decision further. If your numbers are close, you'll probably either be admit or WL, at which point you can send an update.dawnrose wrote:So...are there things one can do while waiting for final decisions in the RD pool? Any other Michigan undergrads get that email about updating contact info today? Think it means anything?
