Will it give me a boost if I change my RD to ED now? I completed on 1/7, UR now.

I emailed them about this too. You can't change anymore :[

This is what I received from them:

Since you did not initially apply ED, we cannot convert your application
to ED at this time. However, we will note your strong interest in UVA Law
and will expedite review or your file. We will try to get you a decision
within the next week or so.

Then I replied that if I got in I would attend....Thanks God, it helps end my suffering sooner.

Did UVA include a typo in that email or did you paraphrase?

A full-ride scholarship! 171 (the third score, scored 166 in previous tests), 3.90. No UVA essay. Non-resident. You don't have to have impossible numbers to get the money!

Well....another non resident with close to same #s and no Why UVA in with $$$ after applying like two months later than me...I've been holding off on a LOCI because I was afraid it would delay my app, but it may be my only option.

I think people are too quick to assume that not getting into UVA is YP. They're one of the best schools in the country. They're going to reject/WL people above their medians. Give your apps a thorough evaluation before sending in a LOCI, because if you're getting WL'ed for something else and they get the sense that you think you're being YP'ed, you can kiss your chances goodbye.

If I am the admission, I will take it as an under-evaluation of my confidence in UVA/ over-evaluation on yourself...

But perhaps we consider too much.......A well-written LOCI can avoid such concern...

I thought that no why UVA was the reason I have not heard since I applied in early October.
I guess not. Pretty sure my application got lost.

Read on these forums that 3-months under review entitles one to a Contact of Continuing Interest. Called uva 3 weeks ago asking what I might do to help the adcomm. Was told I could submit a why uva. Did so. Haven't heard anything yet.

I mean, I could have an extra weak app outside my #s for them, but I've done OK so far elsewhere. I got NU so I assume my resume wasn't HORRIBLE (it's not fantastic compared to many of the awesome people on this site) and my UVA was about a very specific area of law that they are particularly strong in compared to other T14s, and my resume backs up that I am interested in it. My mentor in UG also went there for her grad schooling and said wrote a LOR about how she knows I am especially interested in UVA and would be a good fit. Soo...I'm confuzzled. I want to shore up whatever area is weak with a LOCI, but am not sure where to focus. I might update them on some new resume stuff and some new personal stuff, but it's starting to get weird seeing as I'm UR as of 10/15 or so. I don't think it's too cocky or an "overevaulation" to wonder why I haven't even gotten in, while people with lower #s and who are way less UVA specific are getting full rides after applying much later.

I'm trying to be patient, I swear. I've just been DYING for UVA love since day one.

Without getting into a big argument, if you don't think UVA YPs, then you're not paying attention. Sure, some people assume YP without justification, but if someone is at one median and above another and is getting WLed, it's safe to say they're being YPed.

I think if you reread what I wrote you will notice that I never said what you're accusing me of.

Insert "improve RC before starting law school" joke.

ETA: Also, no , it isn't safe to assume YP. People get rejected from all sorts of schools for all sorts of reasons. Just because a school is notorious for YP doesn't mean that every 75th percentile reject was YP'ed.

OK. I'm going to try to fight the forces of TLS that turn applicants into insufferable people.

I have already gotten into many fantastic schools. I am lucky. I will probably not starve on the frigid streets if I do not get into UVA. At least if I do, it's probably not because I didn't get in. Is it weird I haven't heard? Yes. But I don't know why. Maybe they are assembling an awesome gift basket to personally hand deliver and it's taking a realllllllly long time. Or maybe they do hate me. Either way, I will survive. Now I am going to go to the movies, drink a lambic beer and eat dark chocolate.

Admissions elsewhere, higher usnwr, or otherwise, is not an admissions criteria. I got into NYU and UVA, was held at Penn and moved to FR at Berkeley. I've no reason to think that my getting into NYU should also mean I'm getting in elsewhere. Different schools have different criteria. Enjoy your beer. Maybe have a few extras and try to relax.

I...wasn't using that as the criteria. It was more, all the other stuff I said. By saying I did OK elsewhere I meant that there probably isn't a glaring typo or incriminating photo wedged somewhere into the apps that I sent out.

I didn't think you were saying that, although I used my mind reading power to discern that you were thinking it lol. Also, sure about the typos? Your name is one letter off from being German for ice cream cone.

No, not thinking that at all actually. I'm not really as rankings obsessed as many people; I think once you're in the T10 it is kinda silly to split hairs like that. And erm...German for ice cream cone is Eistüte, at least to the best of my knowledge. My username actually means "squirrel" in German, but it is sans the second "h" in the middle to make it easier to shorten to "Eich"/less confusing looking. Thanks for your typo concerns though?

Depends on what dialect you're speaking. Hörnchen is German for squirrel, it's also German for croissant. Eis, obviously, is either ice, or ice cream. In the beautiful city of [lol why did I put that there], where I was born and lived until I was 4, Eishörnchen most certainly means ice cream cone. Eistüte, which translates literally to ice cream bag, seems like it would work. Of course, if you're from Germany, you know how disparate dialects can be.
Ist das so gelaufen wie du wolltest?
