I would suggest holding off on submitting until your visit would be in the 15 day window and making sure you let them know you are coming on a certain day. I remember reading on here that people have been told, in person, that they were accepted during a visit. That is unless you HAVE to know as soon as you can. I don't HAVE to know by any date, but the problem is that if I go out there it would be on a weekend and likely when the admissions office is closed (I have class every day from 8-12 and I know specifically that the Fridays in September I cannot miss class). I'm trying to get excused from all 4 hours on Friday the 14th (the courses I'm taking in the fall aren't the type I can skip without being excused) so I can fly down that morning and meet with them in the afternoon. The only downside I can see is if your application still isn't as polished as it could be. If you still feel like there is work to do some September 1st, be it on your PS or whatnot, then I think waiting a week or two would be more beneficial.
