Any opinions on if a tour would be beneficial (for the love sprinkling) after that point? If not, I might revert back to my plan to only head down if I get accepted.
Probably wouldn't be horrible to find out when the admissions office or welcome center type thing (if one exists) is open despite official tours ending by asking a UVA student and then taking a self guided tour and stoping by to say hey. Also I believe it is normal to send in a written LOCI after a campus visit around January-ish.

I highly doubt campus visits really matter that much though, so don't be like taking out a loan to pay for the trip.
Okay, thanks for that. I'll just sit tight and reassess a potential visit in a month or so.

Not to split hairs here - but "complete" is separate from when they determine your residency, right? Was that the case for you?

I haven't noticed how long I've been "complete and under consideration" but I submitted 11/15 and just today (11/28) got word my in-state residency was approved.

Obsession reaching new highs...

I think for me they happened at the same time.
11/20 - app submitted
11/20-21 - LSAC sent report
11/26 - ED app/online status login info email received
11/27 - office of VA status emails that I'm a resident, and when I check the status checker it now says I'm complete.

And on a separate note, today, 11/29 --- I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Accepted via phone call. 173/3.3, ED, VA resident. Submitted 11/2? The day after whenever the October scores were finally released.? Got an email confirming my residency was verified 11/25. Very excited, I took the LSAT multiple times and it paid off.

I never heard anything about my residency... did you send anything else in for that?

It still says complete though.

You have to email a form to a completely separate office not even in the Law School (UVA Office of Virginia Status or something). I just sent it in same afternoon I put my application in.

Wow congrats.

Can anyone figure out any rhyme or reason for who they have called so far? Location, residency, etc.?

Thanks everyone. I live in Virginia, but I don't know if I qualify as a VA resident because I just moved here a few months ago. Pretty sure I got an e-mail rather than a call because I let them know a few days ago that I'd be out of the country from the end of November until the beginning of January.

Thanks! Yeah I was RD - sent in 11/15, Complete some time around 11/26, email update saying I was certified in-state 11/28 (at which point they told me the application was on the Dean of Admissions' desk and they'd hopefully have an answer next week), 11/30 the always very nice and extremely helpful Jason Dugas (Director of Admissions) surprised me with the call on a Friday afternoon!

Still totally can't believe the scholarship offer and won't believe it until I have it in writing. Priorities have shifted from obsessively checking status checker to obsessively checking snail mail...

You shouldn't have to wait too long. I got in Monday afternoon and received my package Wednesday with the wonderful scholarship letter inside. They sent it priority mail.

Just fired off an app today, won't be complete as I'm still missing an LOR but wanted to get it in.

Knew nothing about UVA but after clicking around it looks pretty nice!

For those that received $$ from UVA, were there GPA stipulations attached? My letter indicated that one had to maintain a 2.3 GPA. Anybody know whether this is about top 1/2 of the class? Top 2/3?

Same stipulation, but I imagine 2.3 is at the very least the top 2/3 of the class.

If I understand correctly, I believe B+ median (3.25?) means top half would be a 3.25 so a 2.3 I would guess to be top 2/3.

How long did it take all the in-states out there to be classified as in-state? I sent my application in to VA residency status checker several weeks ago, followed on with the application sent to the admissions office (I know, paranoid, but I wanted to get the process moving after like two weeks of waiting), and still haven't seen anything? I know VA residency isn't THE difference maker, but it can't hurt, right?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
