I would say that's more exception than rule.
An LOCI is not a magic bullet.
I know, was just hoping for some of that good TLS juju

I recently withdrew my application. Hope that opens up a spot for someone here still waiting!

Does anyone know if UVA gives those 'swag bags' during ASW? A nice t-shirt would be dope but i'll settle for some pens and pencils.

Last year at their ASW it was a bag/backpack/tote thing, t-shirt, and some other shit like pens.

For folks who got a merit scholarship, how did you find out? Is it on the acceptance letter somewhere or online or in separate mailing/email?

On the phone and in the acceptance packet, for me.

I was outside the country, so I was e-mailed and told, and it also arrived with my acceptance letter. Based on what others have posted, they have been told when they got acceptance calls.

how are you guys handling this 4/4 deposit deadline? its soooo early. note that it is NOT binding by uvas own admission but i also dont want to lose 500 dollars. the early deadline really makes it impossible to use as leverage at other schools since that is around when u will get your initial offer from the others and then uva will expire

Yeah, it sucks. I think I'm going to just try to move as quickly as possible at other schools, knowing I might lose the $500. Fortunately Penn's deposit is partially refundable.

I plan on visiting the schools where I've been accepted in March so that I can hopefully make a decision before the deadline. If I really want another school besides UVA and they haven't given me any scholarship info yet, I've read on here that I can email the other school about the approaching deadline and (politely) ask them to give me info sooner.

hey guys. got the call today and i'm in! I had a quick question I was hoping I could get some help with though. apparently scholarship info is on hold until the first week of april, presumably after the deposit deadline, and the dean said to contact after that to check on what was available. I was wondering if you guys have any idea about if schools usually have money left after deposit/ what I might be looking at in terms of aid since its pretty late in the cycle? I believe my numbers are in my profile, but otherwise I'm a 176/3.64 - appreciate the help!

Wow. Seriously? That's... odd, and makes decisions harder for most people...
Or is this a regular thing for UVA? I know a lot of schools I'm applying to are waiting until March to do scholarship info but April is a little too late to factor into decisions.

I'm a little bit confused with Virginia. I've been complete since November with no change. 171/3.93 with good softs, since accepted at some other schools (Duke, Gtown, Columbia, NYU). I don't want to assume YP since UVA is so highly ranked but can't help but wonder why I haven't heard anything yet. Whats the consensus on LOCI in a situation like this? Think they might like it? I don't want to seem presumptuous but I really did want to go to UVA haha

Hold off. If they WL, send a LOCI and negotiate money when they accept you. You should be in with your numbers, though.

Did you write a "Why UVA?" in your original application? If not, I actually think sending a LOCI is worthwhile. Some others in this thread who had been waiting for a long time had success shortly after sending one.

Just turned down my admissions offer. Hopefully this will open the spot up for one of you, as well as drop 135k back into the merit bucket.
Good luck to all of you and I wish you all success!

Thanks! I went to visit Harvard today and decided I needed to start thinking about which schools I could see myself at. In the end, I've withdrawn from more than half the schools I applied to. The money from UVA made it really hard to let go, but I think there are a lot of other people ITT who deserve the option and the opportunity to kick some serious law school a$$ at UVA

However long it would take you to receive a package from Charlottesville normally. They send them like right then.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
