Who's going to the admitted student program next week?

Any idea on how dressy we need to be? I swear I read something about dress expectations at one point, but now I can't seem to find it...

It is totally casual. People at the March ASW ranged from T-shirts to a few in suits. Nice jeans and a sweater seem like the way to go.

Did anybody else get an email from Columbia stating that they were missing documentation? I sent everything in February, but they essentially said I sent nothing.

I hope this doesn't affect the timing of my decision!

I did, but I knew I was missing stuff because my parents aren't interested in assisting. Thought I could get by without it. fuck me, right?

I'm in the same boat, one parent wouldn't give financial docs. I haven't really been dying over it though because it seems like they don't give much in the way of grants anyways. Are things less dim for people that apply for grants than I think?

From what I've seen, it doesn't look great for grants/aid after hamiltons and butlers. I guess it depends on one's financial situation. Although I don't expect to get a lot, I'd still like to see the offer and have it be accurate.

Some people get up to $25K/year (which to me would be HUGE) off grants since its really merit & need, but I've heard they do negotiate. I just don't know whether to start putting up other offers until after or before they give their finaid decision

It would be huge. I feel like the 75ks are for those who just missed the butler boat. I don't expect that much.

Definitely worth a shot. I don't have any anecdotal data to show whether or not CLS is open to negotiation, but you say that they are? If you have a big offer from a peer school, it can't hurt to notify them.

Held today via email. Submitted in January with a 3.71 and 172. What are chances this point of getting of the hold list at this point? :(

Basically speaking, yes. Columbia doesn't like to reject people. They waitlist everyone. And their grandmothers.

I'll trade the news I got from Columbia last week for the news you got from HLS yesterday. Just say the word.

If you're held and really do want to go, would it be stupid not to submit an LOCI before they request additional information?

That seems like a pretty good outcome for those numbers.

Yeah, better than a ding of course!! I was just really hoping he would get in so I'd have a better idea of where we're gonna end up. But less than a month until we know, so not much longer now.

I don't recall if we decided that Hold was essentially WL? I just got held, for the record.

Hold=pre-waitlist which turns into waitlist which=rejection.

Basically

Not necessarily. Looking at last year's thread, there were several held & ED deferrals who were admitted during the first few weeks of April.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
