Ahh, have you decided definitively on CLS, then? The Hamilton is pretty tempting, but HLS (disclaimer: haven't gotten into) has always been a dream for me academically and location-wise. We'll see how the cards play out once admissions/money/visits are all sorted out, though! It's certainly a strong contender.
I'm not all decided, but finances are a significant concern so it would take a hefty penny in need-based aid from HLS or YLS. I'd certainly take CLS over SLS. I'd prefer NYC location-wise, though, to Harvard.

Good luck with Harvard, though! I'm still waiting on a JS1, so fingers crossed for me too!

Thanks! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us. Not that we're in a bad position as of now, either

And with a JS2 in your pocket, it's time for you to make a decision, Ms. Carbon! Head on over to the Hamilton/Ruby 2016 thread with your thoughts so that if I'm lucky enough to be in your position at some point I can go see what goes through your mind while you make this wow-no-way-to-lose decision.

What do we have against SLS?

No connections to the west coast + in love with NYC and the northeast in general. If I got in I would definitely fly down to take a tour and maintain an open mind, but I'd be surprised if it woo'ed me. As someone who has never been to California, though, maybe I'm underestimating.

Also congrats on all your good news of late, MOTM :)

Do you seriously have to ask that question on TLS?

Hint: The East Coast bias/preference is pretty obvious...

Nothing in the mail today. I submitted over six months ago and have heard nothing beyond the "complete" email. I'm going to draft a LOCI and then I'm letting go.

Longtime lurker on this thread, so I figured the least I can do is check in and offer some hope to those waiting: NCE today in NYC! Submitted early January and complete 1/29. LSN account under the same username. Letter was dated 3/1, so hopefully some of you have good news on the way!

+1. California is the best.

would just like to drop in and say that, having just vacationed in san diego and been to la jolla, the above sentence should be entered into the constitution as clause no. 1.

Would Columbia give any money (even 5k) in response to a large offer from Duke or no way? Anyone with any experience negotiation w/ a Duke offer would be greatly appreciated. Assuming CLS only cares what NYU and up offers unfortunately. Thanks!

(# of total applicants) - (# of accepted applicants) - (# of people with LSATs under 155) - (#of Applicants with Class A felonies this calendar year) = (# of WL'd applicants)
Meaning, WL = rejection unless you're above both medians and were YP'd, have a very high LSAT, or donate $100,000 to the law school before the end of the summer.

Well the vast majority of us holds will end up on the WL eventually

At this point, do they send out NCE's one at a time throughout the week or they still send in batches?

For those of us in held-purgatory are we sending in LOCI's now or should I wait till the reserve stage? I know there's no right answer, I've just read really conflicting things regarding LOCI's and when they are most appropriate.

Without being on TLS, I don't think my natural inclination would be to send a LOCI when I have nothing significant to add and I simply haven't heard back as quickly as I'd like. Reading Ken's thread about LOCI's seems to back up that inclination. But looking at Mark Spivey thread - who has worked in admissions - it seems like they are always welcome and there really isn't a negative to sending one in. Going farthest in that direction is the article on LSN saying that you CANNOT afford to be complacent when put on waitlist and need to send a LOCI since you are currently in a fragile position.

Also, given my stats, CLS is clearly a reach school for me and my held-status is definitely not YP so is there any benefit to simply informing them of my interest in attending?
I would suggest taking the "Why Columbia?" approach to LOCI writing. I sent one on Friday discussing the professors with whom I'd like to work and how their scholarship aligns with my research interests. I also mentioned a CV update (new article under review), but I pretty much used the LOCI as a short "Why Columbia?" essay.

Hi all! This might be a dumb question, but I'll try anyway.

If you are admitted with merit aid, is that listed on your acceptance letter? Or is it a separate mailing?

Thanks!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
