And the decisions came as an attachment? That's new.

A bit too lazy to look right now, but can anyone see any rhyme or reason to those few applicants who got WL'd between the first feb. wave and second April wave?

not that this should be anything "new" really, but a quick glance at LSN shows more reserve emails could be sent out this week (although probably not many).

So does reserve = rejection?
Has Columbia even dinged anyone at all?

i'm expecting it. i find it hard to believe that with my numbers + september submit that i would not get reserved in the first wave.djwjddl wrote:not that this should be anything "new" really, but a quick glance at LSN shows more reserve emails could be sent out this week (although probably not many).

for all intents and purposes, reserve is a soft rejection (unless you're a high splitter then maybe you have a shot--albeit a slim one).stuckinthemiddle wrote:So does reserve = rejection?

according to LSN, there has been 1 RD rejection reported. don't know how accurate this is, but i'd say it's safe to assume no rejections have really gone out at this point. soon, though.

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I knew it was a far reach, but man, just when I was hoping that reserve gave me some 'elite' status compared to a rejection I find out about this whole everyone gets reserved and nobody gets moved from Columbia's soft rejection list. Very strange that it was an attachment. Did anyone else get two identical emails and attachments? They were a minute apart and I double checked to make sure one wasn't an outright rejection. I see how the idea of withdrawing out of spite is enticing...

This is a shameful question, but what is an NCE? I see it everywhere but can't find a definition

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Columbia used to send acceptance letters in a manilla envelope that people said looked like vomit. So people called acceptance letters VCEs (vomit colored envelopes). This year, they are sent in white envelopes, or normal colored envelopes (NCEs).ohpobrecito wrote:This is a shameful question, but what is an NCE? I see it everywhere but can't find a definition

what's the news for jan submissions ? I see reserves on people below 17x mostly but they seem to come from sep-nov apps.

mostly, but there are 6 people (out of 25) on LSN who went complete in jan. and were put on reserve.toothbrush wrote:what's the news for jan submissions ? I see reserves on people below 17x mostly but they seem to come from sep-nov apps.

Can I ask, what is the significance exactly? Is this representative of eventual rejections? Reserve = soft deny ? Or do people get pulled from this ? And do most people in this range get reserved ?

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Reserve = soft deny for most people. The ones who ultimately make it off generally were YP'd from the start, or are high LSAT splitters. Consider the fact that Columbia only really needs to pull people from Reserve when admitted students jump ship to go to HLS, so the spots they're trying to fill are people with HYS numbers. I'm sure there are a small handful of sticker-paying spots they need to fill at the end that go to people with more average numbers, though.toothbrush wrote:Woow thank you for that.

I'm very confident another batch of Reserve emails will go out shortly, and that data that djwjddl prepared will start to reflect people with higher LSATs being WL'd as well.

+1. From the looks of it, #s are too low for the reserve emails to be done even for this week.02889 wrote:Reserve = soft deny for most people.
