Man, lots of hold -> accepted movement lately. Has anyone that wasn't held been admitted recently?

Nope. Last year deferred ED applicants heard this week, so hopefully we'll hear back soon.

thanks. do you know about how many deferred ED acceptances went out last year?

It looks like 2 or 3 got in last year.

uchicago is just as great of a school, if not better for its small class size! congrats.

Is there a specific deadline for when schools must render a decision on an application? I know if you're wait listed they can offer admission up to the start of the semester. Is there, however, a date specified by the ABA or someone else by which the school must at least notify you that you are accepted, rejected, or wait listed?

I haven't heard a darn thing from Columbia since I went complete (1/29) and I'm wondering how long this silence can last.

While I applaud the validity of this question (esp. wrt stanford), and I mean no offense, even if there was an ABA/LSAC policy and they broke it, what course of action would you take? Sue the school? Not attend if admitted?

The only language they employ states that they will "try" to have decisions out for "most" applicants who submit before the priority deadline by the end of april. so...

No offense taken. Admittedly I have no leverage to enforce any type of deadline, I was just curious if such a deadline even existed. I suppose I should add to that curiosity the question as to whether schools regularly adhere to this theoretical deadline.

Stanford and Columbia are the only schools I haven't heard from yet. I really doubt an acceptance to Columbia would be a game changer (I'm not likely to get enough money to make it worth it), but I would love to have their response (and Stanford's!) so I can call my cycle over.

Hold is you'll get your decision (accept, reject, WL) later.

Reserve is WL

I've never posted on TLS before, but this thread always gave me hope that there was still a chance, so here's a first time post: I was shocked to actually get into CLS yesterday. Applied in mid October, was never held. 169/3.8, extra strong softs, non URM. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats! It's bizarre that you were never held (I had a similar timeline, but a few weeks earlier both ways, also never held).

Anyone who got admitted recently know what the deal is with regard to financial aid? When should we here? Also, is it too early to start negotiating for scholly?
