If Chicago has an admit wave today, they will over-enroll. This will be interesting. Good luck all

How could you possibly know that.

Too early to say "I told you so"? Maybe but seems like acceptances were not forthcoming per the above. What do you think Lavitz?

No because you didn't make any accurate claims, you idiot. This doesn't mean they over-enrolled and it doesn't mean there won't be more acceptances. Most important of all though, I just had a problem with you saying things pulled straight out of your ass. That is still true regardless of what happened this wave.

Every statement we make outside of our personal admissions experience is bound to be conjecture. I made a thoughtful speculation based on the evidence I had available, including attending Chicago's ASW, which remains certainly insufficient to state a definitive "claim", but still instructive enough to form a contribution (and avoid the label of "idiocy" -- I am always civil, why not be civil in response?).

I believe based on the wealth of data available from this cycle that several of the candidates rejected here would have been admitted if they submitted November or early December applications and had the opportunity to be interviewed. This is most likely because they have already tentatively filled a class. Hence, if today had been an acceptance wave rather than a ding/WL, that would have indicated my conjecture was wrong and they needed more students -> would not over-enroll. If Chicago admits a wave of students later this week, then I will have been dead wrong in my estimation. If there are no more direct acceptances (of course there will be WL->admit), then I'd say what I proposed was largely accurate.

For those applicants denied today, I am sorry -- as I mentioned yesterday, it reflects less on the strength of your application than on the fact that Chicago would most likely (*insert caveat of preference*) have admitted more students than their matriculation % dictates they could fit in the class, so chin up.

I was Waitlisted today. I don't think they're letting anyone in anymore. I went to undergrad there, am an AA male, got into the rest of CCN and Stanford. Also, I would have been a JD/MBA because I have special admissions to the b school. I honestly thought I stood a shot. Good luck everyone else and I hope there will be some movement from the wait list. I'll be going to NYU on a full scholly so I can't complain in the slightest.

Thanks! I can't believe it--this is phenomenally exciting.

My condolences to all those dinged this afternoon. Has anyone not heard back yet?

To those who submitted the WL essay, did you scan your signed essay before emailing it, or did you just submit it as an attached, unsigned document?

does anyone know if it is possible to defer your admission and stay on a wait list at the same time?

Doubt it. But this seems like a question to ask the school you want to defer at.

Almost certainly it's alright. Deferred admission isn't committing to them for next year, you are just basically depositing a year early to have them hold you a 2017 spot.

I deferred admission and upon signing a deferral request form I abided to immediately withdraw all outstanding applications, including wait-listed ones. You will receive one of these deferral forms if you request one, but you must make a decision quickly... I believe they give you a week. Best of luck!

I guess it's school dependent then. Isn't there an ABA or LSAC rule that says they can't make you withdraw from WLs though?

for those who chose chicago because of uchilawgo and were regretting your decision when when the old uchilawgo phased out the other day - several new uchilawgos have popped up. the one students seem to be getting behind and with the most momentum seems to be this one: http://uchilawgo2.wordpress.com/

Do people really find these gif tumblers funny? I see them all the time, and it's not like I don't get it - I do. I just don't find them at all amusing, but they seem to be all over the place.

IMO, there should only be one, and it would look like this:

Nah, I'm with you. I don't really understand the appeal, but different strokes for different folks, I guess.
