I hope you're right, but it doesn't look to good this late in the cycle!

Does anyone know anything about visiting the school? Is that something you have to set up, or can you just walk in and say hi? I'm on the waitlist, and will be in Chicago this weekend for Northwestern's ASW. I was thinking about dropping by early Friday morning.

You can walk in, though I don't think anyone will be in the admissions office til 8:30 or 9. There's also student run tours on Mondays and Fridays at lunch.

You can walk in, but it's always polite to email ahead.

Find the admissions office and stand outside of it, just waiting, starting at 6am.

You'll be able to get into the building at look around at least. There are minimal classes on Friday morning so it'll be really quiet. I'm actually not sure what time people get to the admissions office, but once it is open you can pick up a self-guided tour thing too. Someone should be there no later than 9am.

PM me if you have any other questions.

Just FYI if you want to visit that morning, Hyde Park is pretty far south from the rest of the city and it can take up to an hour to get there from around Northwestern if you're taking the L, especially on a Friday morning during rush hour. Make sure you don't want to make the morning sessions for NU's ASW (though I'm pretty sure it's just classes, I'm not going until like 1pm on Fri).

Yeah, I figured the way down would be kinda long. Figured I'd have to leave around 7 (ugh). Don't really care if I miss sit-in classes, but they don't start til 10:25, so it may be possible if there's not much to do and the ride back up is a little faster post-rush hour.

Don't take the L. Take the #2 bus, which goes from Streeterville directly to the law school and shouldn't take more than around 40 minutes. You aren't really dealing with rush hour since most of the traffic is coming north at that time of day. Getting back north will be a little trickier, because the #2 is an express bus that only runs in the mornings and evenings. You could get on the #172 at school over towards Regents and then change to the #6, or ride the #170 over to the Metra and ride that. Either way this'll only get you to the loop, but it isn't a bad walk from Millennium Park to NU.

Cool, thanks! Where near NW does the #2 stop, and what time is it there at?
If the bus ride back won't be as simple, I may just instead hop on the green line and switch to red at the loop, unless there's a good reason to do something else.

I wouldn't really recommend the green line.

On that note, has the school figured out what they are going to do next year to replace the #171/2? I feel like that will be a big hurt to Regents if they can't get it replaced.

Long time lurker here, waitlisted. The LOCI instruction that came with the decision letter says that I should notify the school I plan to attend of the intention to stay on the waitlist - is this necessary?? I know that my chance of getting in off WL is very slim and I don't feel comfortable letting the school I will very happily and probably attend that I am wiling to go somewhere else.

Its not like the school itself has feelings, and all the adcomms know the game. staying on the Chicago waitlist just means you are practical; if anything, unless your other school is HYS, getting off the Chi WL could get you more scholarship $$ at the school you've decided to attend

Per the acceptance email, we get notice (or lack thereof) of $$$ today. Any guesses on what time these will come out?

How long does it take applications to go from complete to under review?
