They're serious about this btw. I know someone who called and asked if he could submit an update and they flat out told him no.

I wonder if this includes GPA updates - do they just ignore them?

No, I think updated GPA and LSAT are looked at favorably. I think they mean updates like I had intended, when I realized after submitting that I ignored their resume format instructions and planned to send a correct one.

Oh, okay, thanks.

FYI, I missed the part about including the hours worked on your resume, I'm below both medians, and I've been invited to interview... so it can't hurt too much I guess.

Whether they want the update depends on the situation. While on the phone with the office, I explained specifically what non-gpa non-lsat update I wanted to provide, and they said they wanted it.

I included the hours on my resume.... that is probably the one redeeming factor that compensated for my otherwise lacking application. You might even call it a "soft."

I did EVERYTHING minus the "tell us what other schools you're applying to" and I've heard nothing. I wish there was a "thumbs down" emoticon on TLS

How is this pertinent to whether one is admitted or not? Just curious.

It's not; we're just speculating and grasping for patterns that aren't there.

How does Chicago typically communicate scholarship info to applicants? After getting shafted from Columbia today I am looking to Chicago for $$$.

Hey guys.

Some of you may have seen some stats-based stuff I have been posting in other forums. I have been working a lot on it, trying to kill time while application decisions trickle in. Most of the stuff I did over the last couple days was based on the last cycle, or the last two cycles. I've started to put together individual school analysis based on ALL the available data on LSN now, so I'll post them to the corresponding school's threads. This would probably have been more useful/interesting for people a few months ago, but what the heck.

Image

This table is based on logistical regression analysis of data from Law School Numbers. It includes all accepted and rejected applicants from the 2003/4 cycle up until the present (2012/2013) cycle. It does not include waitlisted applicants (unless they indicated that they had been ultimately accepted or rejected). Please keep in mind the nature of the data when interpreting these results.

Also, keep in mind that this analysis is based only on the outcomes for the indicated school’s applicant pool compared to each other, and does not necessarily mean that “numbers aren’t important” to any particular school.

Eventually, once I've slogged through everything, I'll compile lists and, where they'd be helpful, charts comparing data across schools. I'm no stats expert, but I picked up some stuff in grad school, and I enjoy it.

I know it'll take months for them to get to my app, but expecting a WL: no "Why Chicago," nothing Chicago specific in PS, no ties, and I put that I was applying to all the T14 in the box.

Thanks elterrible78, I love people who run logistic regression to kill time (because I am one of them!)

Just to share some of my results (I only used data from last cycle, and fitted a simple logit model with 2 variables, LSAT and GPA)

Image

Image

vertical axis represents probability of being accepted

conclusion: high GPA will boost your chance at Chicago, whereas high LSAT may be more useful in schools like NYU
