I didn't do accelerated ed, I just applied ed as soon as I got my December scores. May I ask what your stats and story are?

Packet from Duke today. Figured they realized the error of their ways and were offering me a Mordecai. Turns out it was a letter and some faculty profiles. Gtown did the same thing...

For anyone who will be visiting the school, the NYT has a little travel piece on Durham:

question about tuition deposit:

In order to enroll in the 2013 entering class, a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $500 must be received in the Office of Admissions by the date specified in your correspondence. Include your full name and LSAC account number on the check or money order made payable to Duke Law School. We are unable to accept debit or credit card payments. The non-refundable enrollment deposit will be credited toward your student account once you matriculat. Please note that the submission of your tuition deposit indicates that you intend to enroll at Duke Law School. If you submit your tuition deposit to Duke, you must withdraw from all other law schools to which you have been admitted.

What date are you guys getting in your correspondance? Can they really specify you have to withdraw all other applications? I thought it was ok to double deposit until May 15th when LSAC releases everybody who has already done so. Also, does this mean you have to withdraw from waitlists

Also honestly if I were you I wouldn't even worry about it, if you're considering schools in the lower t14 I would just run to that full ride. You're unlikely to get one at Duke and they are peer schools so just take UVAs offer and don't look back.

I thought I read somewhere that requiring people to withdraw applications prior to May 15th was explicitly against LSAC rules though? I meant to ask if we had to listen to duke if their guidelines violated LSAC guidelines. I prefer duke to uva at this stage because its much smaller, arguably more national and closer to my parents in SC

Prior to May 15th does not equal May 15th. Is the deposit deadline the 15th? I don't know LSACs deadlines off the top of my head but I don't see Duke violating anything they explicitly say. Why would a school of that caliber risk it?

Also my quote was in response to your question about waitlists.

But seriously don't worry about Duke, your offer at UVA is amazing and you'll get into other, better schools between now and then.

Is it normal that I've been complete for over a month, but still not UR?

Not sure if it's typical, but I was complete for over a month before going UR.

It's quite common. I went more than 6 weeks before going UR. Quite a few here also had the same timeline.

Accepted last night at 7:30pm (PT complete 1/7). Status checker still said UR 1/11 as of 6:45pm, so I was definitely surprised when I checked my email an hour later. Best of luck to those waiting to hear!

Welp, turns out I've been offered a spot on the "Priority Reserve List". Smells like YP to me, but no hard feelings. Good luck to the rest of yall, and best wishes for a speedy (and positive) decision!

Are you asking if we think you'll get in, or just why they are taking so long on?
If it's the first, then yes you will most likely be accepted. If it's the latter then I have no idea. I assume since Duke has this PT system the people who don't get it keep getting pushed on down the line.

I got my Duke package today. I'm a sucker for their color scheme. :-P The letter referenced an area of law that I'm interested in and the handwritten note mentioned an unusual internship I did. Oh Duke you're doing well at makin me feel like a speshul snowflake. I had to smile at their "Enjoy the Sun" blurb that compared their weather with Chicago, NYC, etc. It's 12 degrees before wind chill outside where I live soo I'm an easy sell where that's concerned.

JW, but, you got normal postal mail today? I'm just surprised.

I have my mail directed to my dad's place because I'm leaving the US soon, so the most likely scenario is that he didn't feel like braving our weather and making the long walk to the post box since the mail last came. ;)
