With the talk of how representative LSN is, I was curious and made the graph below, showing the number of users on LSN with a given score from the 2011-2012 cycle compared to what one would expect based upon the score distribution listed on alphascore. Below that you can see the values.

LSN is very biased towards high scorers. Which we already knew... above is just the data to back it up.LRGhost wrote:Can you summarize that? Sorry that I don't understand :/

Re: NYU C/O 2016 Applicants Thread!!! (Woooooo!!!!!)
if what you're saying is true that because lsn's total admits median score is lower than last year's admit, nyu's setting itself up for a few scenarios:
1. fucking itself up its ass by not vastly admitting splitters since its fighting for them with chicago/penn/lower tier
2. the admissions office will be open 24/7 during summer doing a MBA final round admit style
3. cut its class size and chill.
obviously we all want scenario number 2. but i think we need to be mentally prepared for number 3 (possibly number 1 if sexton's feeling abit masochistic).
looking at LSN and looking at TLS, there's literally a complete radio silence for splitters in the range of 3.3-3.49/171+ except for 1. super high LSATs (175+) 2. ED applicants.
the thing i'm worried about the radio silence on splitters is i cannot believe the nyu adcom would look at their admit numbers and be satisfied with the median LSAT when LSN shows admits are 2 points lower than last year's median, unless of course this was their plan all along.

Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah, gotta assume some of the 180s are lying (based on the 176-179s), but still really interesting to see how over-represented the 170-175s are.LSATSCORES2012 wrote: Looks like some 180 LSN profiles are lying... or 180 scorers are just unusually likely to report in.

It also helps to remember that the stats for last year included WL movement. I don't think we can really see where they were at this time last cycle.

Re: NYU C/O 2016 Applicants Thread!!! (Woooooo!!!!!)
Hey guys. I was fortunate enough to be accepted to NYU last week (12/26 UR1 submit above both medians). Does anyone know how to check scholarship info (merit grants, not specific scholarships)? My packet only came with an acceptance letter, an accept offer form, and nothing else. Is there anywhere I can check?

Submit your Need Access form and then they will email you to notify you of any merit award.abcde12345 wrote:Hey guys. Has anyone submitted an appeal for their scholarship, and if they have, has anyone heard back from the financial aid office?
