This. I want NYC Biglaw bigtime, but I'm not expecting any $ from Columbia and probably not much from NYU. Meanwhile, UVA might throw some serious $$$ at me and I'm in state to boot. Tough life.slack_academic wrote:Who else is freaked out by COA for NYU? Even if I get in here, I probably won't get a scholarship and would have a hard time just saying, "lol fuck it" and going for it, especially since I don't want to practice in NYC.

Am I the only one who keeps worrying about different aspects of the application process? Seriously, I keep worrying about my recs, personal statement, and so on. I want to know I'm not alone (though mayhaps I am).

You are not alone, I'm worries about my LOR'S and even though I applied last week I'm sending another LOR this week. (cus I'm freaking out) but I'm calming down. Just try not to think about it, work out a lot so you can sleep at night, lol.JedBartlett wrote:Am I the only one who keeps worrying about different aspects of the application process? Yeah I was worried for a few weeks after submitting, but as this point I know I did a good job and I just need to hope for the best.WhiteyCakes wrote:This.slack_academic wrote: 0 shits.

Got my status checker today and I am under review. Applied on 11/6/12. Do they traditional have a "complete" update or does it go straight to under review?

I think the other exception would be PI, and not as much for our supposed placement power into the field as for our fucking amazing LRAPmoonman157 wrote:Ya it seems to me that if you don't want NYC Biglaw, then NYU isn't really better than lower T14. Also, I don't think any non-HYS is drastically better than any other outside of their home market. UChicago for NYC isn't better than Penn or UVA, IMO

True, I did forget about NYU's PI reputation. And this isn't supposed to be a knock on NYU; I love the school, it's one of the very best and probably where I'll end up. But I'm also NYC Biglaw or bust; for those that aren't, it may not be the best choice.JamMasterJ wrote:I think the other exception would be PI, and not as much for our supposed placement power into the field as for our fucking amazing LRAPmoonman157 wrote:Ya it seems to me that if you don't want NYC Biglaw, then NYU isn't really better than lower T14. oh no. I absolutely agree with that. Absent HYS, no school is the best option for everyonemoonman157 wrote:True, I did forget about NYU's PI reputation. I'd like to know this too. I've been UR for about a monthManhattanman wrote:Got my status checker today and I am under review. Applied on 11/6/12. Do they traditional have a "complete" update or does it go straight to under review?

I believe the first status is "Application being processed," followed by "Application under review." A bunch of folks in this thread have reported going directly to UR, while others (like me) spent many weeks in the app processing stage.lsacqueen wrote:I'd like to know this too. Re: NYU C/O 2016 Applicants Thread!!! (Woooooo!!!!!)
NYU is (was) my top choice, but with a 3.61 and 166 in October, I'm planning on taking it again in December (obvs.). Two questions:
1) What the score I need in Dec. to have a realistic shot of getting in, even if its off WL? (I'm thinking 172?)
2) I'm holding off on my app for now so I don't risk getting rejected before my Dec score comes in. Is that the right decision?
My softs are 2 years work experience and a relevant MA degree.
Thanks, and good luck to all those who have already submitted!!

Based off the graph http://mylsn.info/graph.php?school=nyu, it looks like a 171 or above starts to put you in good shape.ph5354a wrote: 1) What the score I need in Dec. to have a realistic shot of getting in, even if its off WL? (I'm thinking 172?)
I know your softs aren't that relevant, but I can't really answer question 2. Maybe someone else can.ph5354a wrote: 2) I'm holding off on my app for now so I don't risk getting rejected before my Dec score comes in. Is that the right decision?

Great, thanks! I hadn't seen these graphs before so that's really helpful.helix23 wrote:Based off the graph http://mylsn.info/graph.php?school=nyu, it looks like a 171 or above starts to put you in good shape.ph5354a wrote: 1) What the score I need in Dec. to have a realistic shot of getting in, even if its off WL? CA mid law shouldnt be a factor as those jobs are few and far between. Nyu provides you with that safety net that a non-boalt CA school will notslack_academic wrote:Yeah, I think I've posted this before but I wish it was a more viable option for me. Preferences are CA Biglaw>CA midlaw>Biglaw in another big city>whatever else is out there, so NYU isn't ideal even if I'm lucky enough to get in.

Under review...I wonder if admissions lost much time because of the hurricane. Power was out down there for about a week, I think. I hope it didn't push their timetable back too much.

I first went complete/UR on 10/08
Has anyone else had their UR status updated? And do you think the update means your file is being more strongly/actively considered? I'm an ED applicant, sitting on an UR status from 10/23 that hasn't updated at all since first going UR.ChampagnePapi wrote:Also updated to 10/18
