Feel ya. I'm 175/3.56 with (in my opinion) very good softs and still UR since 11/12.

What are your numbers?
I'm really surprised you haven't gotten in yet... My numbers are substantially worse at 170/3.84 with a UR date of 11/6... But still about an 80% chance according to LSN (though most of those folks went to HYPS, I suppose).

Think I just figured mine out. Reread PS and found "... applying for admission to New York University Law School."

Turns it out it's called New York University School of Law.

Yes I am, and can log into ASW
A bit random, but on another board I remember a lot of people being able to log into NYU's site for undergraduate admissions to determine whether they were admitted or rejected. An admissions official from NYU actually left comments on the board chiding the applicants for "exploiting" the website. I find it funny that six years later the same issue exists, albeit for another school withing the university.

Checking in. App submitted today after Dec LSAT.

171/4.0. Most likely will not get in due to late application and 167 October LSAT score, but you only live once so you do what you gotta do. Have spent a lot of time in the village, too bad that doesn't matter.

Couple questions...

1) How long does it take after submitting to get a received e-mail? And then how long until a complete email? Is there a status checker?

2) What type of timetable are we seeing for decisions? For me, should I be expecting an answer in March/April?

3) For those admitted, whats the status on merit aid? Do they provide it with your offer of admission? Or do you get a letter a month later? Do you need to apply afterwards for it? Excluding the ones on the app, of which I filled out none. I assume there is other merit aid.

4) For those admitted / denied, how were you informed of their decision? I'm still stranded from my apartment because of Sandy and USPS mail forwarding is spotty, at best. Any information at all would be appreciated.

Thank you all and looking forward to riding it out.

Did something very similar along with forgetting to capitalize law school in NYU law school in a later sentence, how bad you think this hurts?

Yeah, not worth it. I forgot to pluralize a word in my DS for Harvard, to no ill effect.

1) all that stuff can take a bit here. Our adcomm is kinda slow. Don't freak if it takes almost a month.
2) It could happen soon or you will get WLd in I believe late march. I applied in October and heard nothing until I was WLd in March or April.
3) Merit aid will not come until April I believe. Other merit aid is called Dean's scholarship and does NOT require another application.
4) you usually get a call and if you go to our school's site, there's a link to an admitted students' site. If you input your information and the site recognizes you, you're in. That's the first notification. Mail comes a few days later but is not the first way of knowing. You could also tell the adcomm your situation and they would possibly be willing to inform you by alternative means (i.e. making sure you get a call if admitted).

BTW, you will almost definitely get in. You are at the median LSAT and way above the gpa median. The lateness of the app won't be enough to kill you and the school doesn't give a shit about multiple scores.

You seem very wise. Can I ask your opinion on the likelihood of merit aid for a 174 and 3.6? Do you have to be over both medians to get anything substantial?

LOL I just go to NYU.

I would expect somewhere between 25K per year and 15K per year. BTW, they typically give a specified number for year 1 and 2 and half that for Y3 if you do private practice during your 2L summer and the whole thing if you do PI.
For instance:
20K - 1L
20K - 2L
10K - 3L

OR

20K - 1L
20K - 2L
20K - 3L

RD still sitting at UR 10/16. If you are going to ding me NYU, please just get it over with already. It is killing me seeing people getting acceptances who went complete and under review in December.

Numbers: 169/4.14

Got it, thanks! Just doing some expectations management here. I didn't realize they offered less for 3L, but I guess that makes sense given the money people make in private practice over the summer.

Also didn't realize they did this. Is there any way that this is negotiable, like the good academic standing requirement, or do you come across as too much of a dick if you ask for that?

No idea. My best alternative offer was less at a lower ranked school. My guess is they would say no given the ~23K gap between PILC and private summering. The general scholarship amount may be flexible but you ought to treat the structuring as though it's a bonus for working in PI rather than a ding for working private.

Greetings denizens of TLS! I have a couple questions which I believe your expertise can cast light on.

I got accepted into NYU during the first round of NYU RD admissions (call from the Dean, etc). I would really like to attend either here or Columbia, so my main concern is financial aid. I did not apply for any of the named scholarships. What is there to know about regular merit aid? When is it distributed? I have a 172/3.7 - am I realistically in the running for any, or should I resign myself to paying sticker?

My second question: I am a Undergrad Senior (no full time work experiance) and I just got a job offer from a law firm in NYC (Sidley Austin) to work as a legal assistant. If I withdraw my applications/ acceptances and reapply next year so that I can get a year of experiance in the industry, will this have a negative effect on me when I reapply? If it helps, I will retake the LSAT if I do this (I only took it once and I fell apart on the last section).

Thank you so much! Good luck everyone!

Got the phone call just before 5 PM yesterday (Friday) saying an acceptance letter is in the mail.

Sorry I haven't been paying enough attention to this forum but when/how do they decide and inform about merit aid? If they didn't mention it over the phone does that mean it's not happening?

is late submission of app really that big a negative factor to admissions ? I guess this is a general question about apps accross the board for any school but I see it mentioned here not to far back so I ask..

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
