Just went UCR2 as well. surprised b/c i submitted 1/10ish and my numbers are horrible. I was ED but i switched to RD like the day i went under UCR1 (1/12ish). Let's see what happens!!!

uhh i submitted way before that and am not even UCR1. looks like the taht ed-rd move pushed up to the front of the line

Same. Submitted 1/3 and I just went complete on the 22nd, no UCR still.

Hey guys.

Some of you may have seen some stats-based stuff I have been posting in other forums. I have been working a lot on it, trying to kill time while application decisions trickle in. Most of the stuff I did over the last couple days was based on the last cycle, or the last two cycles. I've started to put together individual school analysis based on ALL the available data on LSN now, so I'll post them to the corresponding school's threads. This would probably have been more useful/interesting for people a few months ago, but what the heck.

Image

This table is based on logistical regression analysis of data from Law School Numbers. It includes all accepted and rejected applicants from the 2003/4 cycle up until the present (2012/2013) cycle. It does not include waitlisted applicants (unless they indicated that they had been ultimately accepted or rejected). Please keep in mind the nature of the data when interpreting these results.

Also, keep in mind that this analysis is based only on the outcomes for the indicated school’s applicant pool compared to each other, and does not necessarily mean that “numbers aren’t important” to any particular school.

Eventually, once I've slogged through everything, I'll compile lists and, where they'd be helpful, charts comparing data across schools. I'm no stats expert, but I picked up some stuff in grad school, and I enjoy it.

Awesome regression analysis!! Just curious if you thought of controlling for how early/late the application was sent. Also with the increase in LSAT, is that a point increase from any score or from penne median?

It's an increase from any score to the next higher score. And I have thought about controlling for how early/late...I actually constructed a variable to do it. The only problem is that it severely cuts down on the number of observations. I am going to take a look at it tomorrow, actually. I think I might do some analysis on scholarship money, and I think the timing of the application may play a significant role. Thanks!

I hope so? I had a legitimate personal/financial reason which i explained in an additional IM as to why i couldn't commit 100% to penn, although i still really want to go. The issue presented itself about 2 weeks following my submission date. When i called to ask the admin officer i spoke to said it was completely fine and wouldn't negatively impact my admission - so i wrote an additional why penn as well.

It's interesting...the suffering of waiting drove me to Colm Wilkinson's songs which then drove me our Lord.....lol.....
I would suggest you to look for some fun for distraction...but I know it is not easy....

Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but doesn't Penn usually release decisions on Fridays?

We are talking about ED2. Someone in this thread got in on 1/10, which was a Thursday. So... there's a chance.

For ED candidates the site says that decisions will be released by (latest) the 31st, so Friday's definitely not an option there...

^ Gotcha, didn't know you were referring to ED. In that case, seeing as Penn likes to release a batch of mixed decisions on a single day, I hope they just do us UCR2 RD folks at the same time as y'all

Thank God they'll tell us before Friday. Is anybody else registered for the tour and information session on Friday? It would've been awkward going on that tour knowing your fate could be decided during or after. Way too stressful. Here's hoping that Dean Post dials my number!

If you could get the app time and scholly info into the regression that would be awesome! With the time of app I see potential problems with the variables being codependent which will throw off your regression but if your using stata it's easily correctable. Either way I would be very interested to see what you come up with. These are the types of additions that help increase TLS's value!
