176/3.83, honestly thought Berkeley was a stretch and hadn't paid much attention, but now I'm definitely interested and can't wait to visit. Went under review on 12/5.

That would be amazing. Create an ebay style marketplace where people bid for your acceptance with their offers.shntn wrote: OH GOD CAN WE PLEASE START A MARKET FOR THIS

On an unrelated note, I've been "Under review" since fricking 11/21. Should I just quit dreaming and accept this as a polite rejection?

too early in the cycle to tell, although admittedly, your chances are getting slimmer by the week given Regulus's post regarding LSN admittances thus far. i'd probably give it until the end of january (for all T-14 law schools actually sans HYS) before you start getting worried. Even if you go under committee review, you should be getting an email within the next month or so.ashockofpink wrote:

Berkeley has the highest ranked ip program in the country, which music/entertainment biz law is a subset of. I forgot where I read this, but Berkeley places incredibly well in intellectual property jobs, especially on the west coast over other schools similarly ranked.

whole-to-part fallacy[/quote]
True, but it still stands that Berkeley is better for this type of law (entertainment/music) than other similarly ranked schools, like UPenn, UVA, Mich...etc which is what I originally stated. This is especially true for LA, look it up.

This isnt what you said though. You said Berkeley places "really well" in entertainment law. What is your basis for this? Besides your whole-to-part fallacy, program speciality rankings are known to be worthless because they are based on assessments by faculty members not employers.Dookie39 wrote: True, but it still stands that Berkeley is better for this type of law (entertainment/music) than other similarly ranked schools, like UPenn, UVA, Mich...etc which is what I originally stated. I agree Berkeley probably does better than east coast schools, just because they have a stronger foothold in LA. But entertainment law seems like such a difficult field to get into I am skeptical that any non-HYS school places "well" there.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I meant "places well" in a relative way, as in they place well compared to other schools. As far as entertainment law goes, it is a very tough field to get into, and yes HS, along with possibly Columbia, are likely somewhat better, but from what I've heard California schools like Berkeley do better in this field than other similarly ranked schools. I am basing this off of conversations I've had with several prominent attorneys in this field who practice in LA and NY along with some cursory internet research, but maybe they have a skewed outlook on this topic.ChampagnePapi wrote:This isnt what you said though. I am not arguing that it is easy to get an entertainment law job out of Berkeley, just that it is easier than some of the schools I listed above which are generally seen as peers. This whole argument spun off my attempt to understand why I was admitted, as numbers don't usually do the trick for Berkeley, and of course I could be completely wrong as to why I was admitted.
