Yeah... It's my semi-alma mater. But I won't be too broken up if I don't get in. Just kinda butt hurt.ssanonymous wrote:MOTM, you still waiting on Berkeley? Aren't you in SLS though?ManOfTheMinute wrote:hmmm... seems like those calls are over. the first wave is probably the biggest, no?

Yes I am still waiting too. I don't know what to make of the semi-likely scenario where I am in at S but dinged/WL at Berk.

What, exactly, is FR2? I'm hearing people "on FR2" are getting phone calls already. Im assuming FR2 most likely means Faculty Review 2. I was told I passed initial review and would undergo faculty review and would hear back March 8th? I assume this also means I'm FR2? What does it mean that I didn't get called today? I would appreciate PM's or any feedback! Thanks.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
No one really knows what it means, other than they decided to admit a portion of the FR2 people (other people with that 3/8 email), and that you were not one of them. Thus, your odds of admissions are lower than they were on Sunday. Beyond that, no one can really say anything. However, if last year is any indication, the dings had silence until the deadline. But, last year acceptances didn't start until two days before the deadline, as opposed to the four days this year. In sum, no one knows, but the adage of "no news is good news" is not applicable.moose90 wrote:What, exactly, is FR2? I'm hearing people "on FR2" are getting phone calls already. I get that. I just don't know why you care about Berkeley at this point. It's not like Stanford matches scholarships, and if SLS matches need based aid, it'll be from competitive offers at HLS, YLS, CLS, or NYU.amonthofsundays wrote:Yes I am still waiting too. I understand that, but I'm not going to just blow off every lower ranked school now that I am in at S. Berkeley was always a school high on my list and I think S vs Berk with $$$ is a discussion worth having.

FR2 means that should hear back by March 8. That doesn't mean that you won't hear earlier. (Search back a few pages on the process for FR1.)What, exactly, is FR2? Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I think that's a very mature perspective to have. Personally I know that the only caveats I have about Berkeley - its want of international programs + its relatively low number of clinics. I want a hands-on education, but apart from these considerations B is a superb school. Yes if you go to HYS it's a significant boost of course but if you go to a school like B you're not at that much of a disadvantage really. It will all depend on how well/badly you do.amonthofsundays wrote:I understand that, but I'm not going to just blow off every lower ranked school now that I am in at S. I feel the same way. There's something about Berkeley that is very attractive to me, although I can't exactly put my finger on it. I feel that I would enjoy my time there a lot more than at many other schools. I also appreciate that they have a truly holistic approach to admissions. Berkeley is definitely ahead of CCN in my personal rankings, and not far below YSH.amonthofsundays wrote:I understand that, but I'm not going to just blow off every lower ranked school now that I am in at S. CONGRATS amonthofsundays! I hope I get some good karma too. It's weird I feel so happy for someone I don't even know. Berkeley is such a great school I bet that must feel freaking great.amonthofsundays wrote:Good Karma? I just got the call from Dean Tom.
Anyway, would you mind replying (or PM'ing) with your info? LSAT, GPA, etc? Fingers crossed!

amonthofsundays, congrats! Dean's scholarship?
btw, I can't help but be attracted to your online persona because you have Kevin Spacey as your avatar. Just had to throw it out there. Same with MOTM because of Ron Swanson.

Nope. I am still under FR2 2/14/13 on the status checker. But I haven't gotten an admit email either so I think those two might coincide.shawn11h wrote:Hey monthofsundays, did your status change? I got in yesterday and it is still the FR status.
