Hey everyone. Wanted to say hello and good luck. I got the WL two or three weeks ago. Waiting this out because I would probably go up until the first day of classes starting. A homeless SLS student doesn't sound too bad at all really.

Similar to how I feel I personally think the opportunity is worth living in my car or on a couch for one or two months.

Just thought I'd join the party. Long time lurker. Wait listed in late-April with what seems to be most of the soft holds.

Debating whether or not to send in another LOCI as well as a resume update (I didn't win a Rhodes or anything, but I did get a good internship for the summer).

Thoughts? Good luck to everyone else!! Hopefully Dean Deal will be making lots of calls shortly after May 22nd.

No, I haven't received confirmation either. Was starting to wonder about this. Please post what they tell you if you do end up calling.

waitlisted on may 4th and returned the form on may 5th. I haven't heard any response or seen any acknowledgement in my status check website.
Is a LOCI necessary? I've been working in a pharmacy for the past 8 months and I don't think they care about that.

Are schools allowed to make you withdraw from a waitlist when you deposit? Sorry if its a stupid question, but for some reason I thought LSAC didn't allow that to be part of their terms...

They didn't let me know until I called, so I would guess that's right.

I think you are mistaking LSAC's terms about what law schools "should" do for what law schools "must" do. This is mainly used as a guide, which Berkeley has chosen to not follow.

The wording of the Berkeley "requirement" may reveal a bit more of what's going on. Some schools "expect" you to withdraw, but you're not required to do so.

I'm pretty sure this has to be old wording still in the agreement. LSAC's policy is pretty new, but schools sign on to the rules in order to maintain membership. The guidelines linked to above are binding for member schools.

Berkeley doesn't require a deposit. But accepting their offer clearly states on their website that you must withdraw from all other schools you have been accepted to and waitlisted at.

There was a discussion of this earlier in the Chicago thread, since they had similar old wording in their enrollment agreement. At some point Chicago's admissions dean was quoted saying that, of course, you don't have to withdraw from other schools to enroll at Chicago, as that would be a violation of LSAC policy.

a law school even though a scholarship has been accepted,
a deposit has been paid, or a committment has been made
to another school. To provide applicants with an uncoerced
choice among various law schools, no excessive

a place in the class. Beginning on May 15 of each year, law
schools that participate in the Commitment Overlap Service
will be provided with information concerning all enrollment
commitments to any law school made by those applicants
who have indicated an intention to enroll in that school’s

policies on multiple enrollment commitments upon admission.

This sounds like you can stay on a waitlist because it is not an enrollment commitment. Right?

This sounds like you can stay on a waitlist because it is not an enrollment commitment. Right?

This all says should, not must. And Berkeley's statement is unfortunately very clear.
