haha, what a funny coincidence, GW was my first WL-acceptance tooblurose wrote:Thanks! I kinda thought that I was doing the right things but it's nice to have that affirmed by someone in the same boat. I was just accepted off the waitlist at GW, and of all the schools that waitlisted me they were, and still remain, my second choice. I'm still hoping to get that call from UCLA. I will drop off another LOCI next month, maybe...

Oh how funny! Yeah, I'm a splitter so I was waitlisted a lot. I guess a lot of schools had deposit deadlines recently because I got off the waitlist at Hastings yesterday, too. But then I saw GW's email and that clinched it. To be honest I was ambivalent about Hastings.

I just received notice today of a 19.5k grant. You are right, any money will help. I applied and continuously searching for outside scholarships.success888 wrote:Nice that you got money from Minnesota! Did UCLA give you any money? Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
i posted this on the main UCLA thread, but meant to include it here: i've been on the WL since January, got a call from Dean Schwartz yesterday afternoon asking for an update on my level of interest, since they are beginning to look at a few files on the WL, and were taking mine into close consideration.
He mentioned the CRS program specifically... so, not sure if they are looking at applications across the board or just those who selected that focus. Told him I was withdrawing, unfortunately. Pained me so much to say so. Hope one of you gets a spot!

Re: UCLA c/o 2015 Waitlist (2011-2012 cycle)
That's good to hear! I recently took a campus tour and submitted a LOCI and other materials to highlight my interest in CRS. That program is the only of its kind; it makes me discouraged to think about not getting off of the waitlist.
The publication record of the entire department is just amazing. It so amazing I feel I'll have a lacklustre law school experience if I can't go to UCLA Law. (I know things are what you make of them, but their CRS scholarship is just so intellectually rich).
I need to get off the waitlist!!

I think we're all waiting for June 15th (and the week following).... Thats when most of the waitlisters find out. Until then I'm just hoping that an abnormally large amount of accepted students decide UCLA isn't for them.

You're right. Sigh. I know a watched pot never boils but I can't help watching. It's gonna be a long two weeks.

yeah it's nerve wracking, especially when you know your fate out of your control in the hands of the almighty law school admission gods.blurose wrote:You're right. Sigh. I know a watched pot never boils but I can't help watching. It's gonna be a long two weeks.

Off the wait list yesterday! Have til Friday to deposit. Only 7.5k in need based aid offered. Any suggestions to negotiate, other than letting them know other offers I have?

Non-representative sample, I know, but seems to me they are favoring reverse-splitters so far.

Haha... this could go on all night. Good luck to you! You probably worked longer and harder for those grades than I did for my LSAT score. If you get in you deserve it. At least one of us should...success888 wrote:I hope they are right cuz this is good news for me then!!! reverse-splitter here!!!blurose wrote:I hope you're wrong or I'm screwed!
