there weren't any ED WL>As on LSN from 08-11. That doesn't necessarily mean that ppl didn't get in off the WL from ED though

Do we know if receiving one of these emails is a necessary condition to get admitted (or even sufficient?)luxxe wrote:Well, shit. I sent one + a transcript. In January. I wasn't planning on sending another until I graduated & started my internship so I had something new. And could remind them of their sad 3.94 GPA 75th.JamMasterJ wrote:well dammit, it looks like I'm not getting in in the first round of WL admits
Unless the five LOCIs I've sent gave them the idea that I'm still quite interested and that an email asking this would be redundant.
Maybe our ED apps + LOCI(s) were enough to convince them already....

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago (2012)
from the WL thread last year, it looked like everyone that got in got the email. But there were several rounds over the course of the summer, so if you didn't get it Monday, you're not screwed yetRopeisaJoke wrote:Do we know if receiving one of these emails is a necessary condition to get admitted (or even sufficient?)luxxe wrote:Well, shit. Is there hope for super splitters or should we just give up?JamMasterJ wrote:from the WL thread last year, it looked like everyone that got in got the email. I don't remember your gpa, but I know there was a 177/3.5 in the first round last cycle. I'm guessing that if you're below a 3.4 then you're screwed, but otherwise, you still have a chanceMr. Somebody wrote:Is there hope for super splitters or should we just give up?JamMasterJ wrote:from the WL thread last year, it looked like everyone that got in got the email. Last year, at least two super splitters got in off the waitlist (mid May I think?) - czelede and eecs. Both had 3.2/177s.Mr. Somebody wrote: Is there hope for super splitters or should we just give up?

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago (2012)
So is it only splitters that get off waitlists, with the reason being because the can boost medians? Does that mean those of us with both numbers at median have less of a chance?

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago (2012)
no. I doubt they expect WL>admits to do anything more than preserve medians. If you can do that with both, then you're a very hot commodity.RopeisaJoke wrote:So is it only splitters that get off waitlists, with the reason being because the can boost medians? I'm thinking of just withdrawing then. I'm 170, 3.4 and pasty with an ED WL so I'm probably lacking a prayer of getting in.JamMasterJ wrote: I don't remember your gpa, but I know there was a 177/3.5 in the first round last cycle. Yeah, under both medians is usually the death knell for waitlisters.justicefishy wrote:I'm thinking of just withdrawing then. The sad part is in the time since I have been waitlisted I increased my LSAT score by 4 points and I still am under both medians.

dude, you have absolutely smashed this cycle. Thanks it's been surreal. But I don't think I'm nearly rigorous enough for Chicago.JamMasterJ wrote:dude, you have absolutely smashed this cycle. What do we do beyond sending a LOCI to get that email? Send another one?
