AdComm Hours of operation?

Post by ix88 » Thu Feb 16, 2012 10:01 pm

Sorry if this in the wrong forum section, but in the context of administering decisions (Acc/Rej/WL): do Ad comms generally work in the 9am-5pm range? Or what range? (I realize it might vary from school to school, but general range?)

I ask b/c I regularly check my status checkers and if the ad coms only work 9-5, checking my status at 11pm when I previously checked it at 8pm would be useless.

Any thoughts? Thank you. :D

During this season, their hours are all over the place. I know Michigan's has said she reads at home as well. Almost everyone can remote in these days.

sure, but the probability of your status checker updating to a decision after like 7pm is very slim

On a similar note, is it bad style to send an email at like, 3 am?

I've noticed that 10:30 - 7 is the ideal time to check status checker for updates.
haven't experience any activity in the early morning so far

Uh, no. Why would they care when the email was sent?

IMO, yes. I never send business or academic emails during those hours. I would advise against it.

It's not that they would care when the email was sent, but that it seems off-putting and might seed unneeded thoughts into the recipient's mind.

"Huh, why is the person even up at 3am? Is he or she an insomniac? Did he or she just return from a night of partying?"

If there is a glimmer of uncertainty, just send the email at a "regular" hour.

I can see why people would think this but I'm gonna disagree. I check my work emails by sent time and if it's sent at a weird hour I don't really think too much about it or I chalk it up to something lagging in the system. Alternatively you could be taking the initiative emailing early in the morning, who really knows.

I'd like to give the advice, send out an email as soon as it's ready and complete. Don't think too hard about it.

I don't think it matters considering students apply all over the country in different time zones. Not sure why you would want to send it at 3am though...

I know tomorrow is a federal holiday, will Law school offices of admissions be open? They should be right?

It depends on the school. But they probably are open, about the only thing Presidents day will affect is the snail mail.

Hey man my status checker just changed my address from a "123 Good Street" to "123 Good St."!!! That's like 3.5th status update after my 2nd alumni interview which means I'm going in to the special preferred status waitlist!
