I've listened to "Put Your Hands Up for Detroit" by Fedde Le Grand maybe 5,000 times since I was accepted in order to convince me to forget about the debt/weather and just go to Michigan. I have to say I think it's working.

First time using Kayak; couldn't be happier. The tickets are nonrefundable, but I'd honestly have to die to miss Mich ASW.6thbackstreetboy wrote:Mine is going to end up being around 400, so yea I'd say "Wow! Super deal! I'll be attending the ASW on 15th (flying in at night so I'll miss day 1).

Anyone traveling from NYC? What dates? And are you flying into Detroit? How does one get to Ann Arbor (I've only been by car from Chicago, with a friend)?

I can't really help you as I live north of AA and have never driven there from any other direction, but I believe the ASW has information on how to get there from Detroit Metro.Ravenclaw wrote:Anyone traveling from NYC? If you are driving from Dtw, get on I 94W toward Chicago. Exit at 177. That's State Street. Go N or right. The law school is on State Street. Or, be like every person with a smart phone and use GPS.

I was wondering more along the lines of whether people flying to Michigan were flying into Detroit/renting a car, or what else? Haha, but I'm glad I have directions, in case my phone dies!

I think I'm going to catch the MichiganFlyer at DTW, which is a "luxury"(I'm sure they use this term loosely) coach. It's only like $25-$30 roundtrip, which is the cheapest I've found. Then I can just rent a car for a day once I get to AA so I can look for housing. I'm trying to do it as cheap as possible though so there might be better options.Ravenclaw wrote:I was wondering more along the lines of whether people flying to Michigan were flying into Detroit/renting a car, or what else? I'm staying until Sunday morning, just because flights worked out to be cheaper that way.

Not gonna lie, my enthusiasm took a huge hit when I realized it's probably going to cost ~$500 to attend...
but I still do really want to go, so I need to figure it out.

Not sure where you're flying from, but check out kayak.com. Srsly.swoozie wrote:Not gonna lie, my enthusiasm took a huge hit when I realized it's probably going to cost ~$500 to attend...

Thanks, that's the site I've been using. Tad under $400, even searching arriving a day early/leaving a day late. :/Killingly wrote:Not sure where you're flying from, but check out kayak.com. Congrats guys! We at Michigan are excited for ASW to meet all y'all! And for those who get placed at the Bell Tower Inn or whatever it is, you are in for what I thought was a very classy hotel for $20/night. The reception desk is super midwestern friendly and helped me find my way back to the airport, looking up bus schedules, calling taxis, etc on my behalf. Hence, I came to Michigan. Seriously, I found the visit totally sold me on the school... for those on the fence about the cost of the trip - I know it sucks big time but come if you can. See you there!

Checking in. Just finalized my plans for the first ASW. There's a good chance I end up at Michigan in the fall so I'm really excited to check it all out.

Just booked flight and hotel for the first preview weekend! Not sure how I'm going to get to and from the airport yet, since I can't rent a car.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
