How vastly different are winters/summers in Portland?

Anyone seriously considering Maine Law?
The seasons are vastly difference in the sense that one is cold and one is warm. You can expect snow and low temperatures during the winter, though the ocean does moderate the snow's staying power and some of the more extreme temperatures. You can also get a nice (read: frigid) winter wind coming off the ocean as well. So, yes, it's cold but it's not Alaska or Siberia.

The summers are without equal though.

The Fall is the best season in Maine. For a great description read the book Salem's Lot (strangely enough).

Without a doubt.

So how's the building and the library? Seems like it's part of that 60s/70s brutalist architecture. And how much a part of the USM campus is the law school? I know the law school is administratively distinct from USM and it's the UM system's law school, but is it functionally part of USM (in addition to part of its campus)?

USM's main undergrad campus in in Westbrook (I believe) -- a suburb of Portland. The law school shares a parking lot with the offices of another graduate school program (American and New England studies). It is across the street from the main campus. There are about 5 other main classroom buildings at the Portland campus. The campus is relatively small (though not tiny, there is a decent sized quad with some nice trees across that street).

How do you log into the Maine Street portal? I got a letter saying my financial aid info was ready to view, but I'm positive they never gave me a username/PIN for their portal.

I got the same letter. I received an email one month ago, saying that email accounts would be activated at the end of March, and that's the same login id for the fin aid. I tried calling USM help desk, and they're closed on Saturdays.

Same deal. Well, at least I know it's not just me.

Forgot I applied here! I was cleaning up my email and noticed the status check info they sent. I never received an email saying I was accepted, but status check updated a week ago reading I'm in...

So, do they send admit packages? How will I find out about aid? Reading through the thread it seems like no one gets any real dough..too bad. I love Portland.

Anyway, if there are any wait list lurkers, I'll be withdrawing very soon.

Is anyone going to the admitted students' day today? I am curious to hear what they have to say. I am currently living outside the country, so I am unable to attend the event. I did however send in my seat deposit! Any one else going to Maine next fall?

Anyone know what the majority of Maine students use in terms of laptops (apple or pc)? I really want an apple, but on some other posts it seems like software and wireless printing compatibility is really school specific.
