NYU gives me $62.5/75k and Chicago comes back with $30k.

Why is that so surprising? New York is a much more expensive place to live.

Well scholarship negotiation successful-ish. $60k bumped to $90k.

Not that I could have reasonably expected more, it's just that $90k is exactly where I drew the line that would be equal to my $120k at Northwestern. Fuck. (for negotiation purposes, my appeal was filed on Sunday, 4/7, with the only other offer being $150k Northwestern deferred, which I had changed to $120k minus the deferral.)

90% ecstatic that I can now choose Chicago and feel good about it, 10% upset because I feel like a 13 year old girl choosing who is my best friend of the week.

Looks like I'm going to have to create one of those Good v. Gooder v. Goodish threads.

Just checked the box for Chicago, check is going in the mail.

Congrats on the decision and the bump to 90k. That whole "morality" clause thing you mention strikes me as so strange though - especially because "morality" seems to me like a pretty presumptuous word to use when essentially guilt tripping someone into returning money he was awarded. I'm curious what the exact language is because I haven't read of anyone else getting that clause in their award. I assume they are asking you to (potentially, pretty please w/ a cherry on top) return just the $30k they put on top of your initial $60k, and not the whole thing?

Question question. I'm deferring my acceptance, so the admissions office sent a contract that I need to submit ASAP (by today) with the following description:

[blah blah blah] I accept the Law School’s offer of deferred admission for the entering class
named above. I understand that this commitment means that I will withdraw all applications to law schools to which I have already been admitted, I will not seek or accept deferred admission at another law school, and I will not apply to other law schools in the future. I agree to inform the Law School immediately if my situation changes. I will send in my deposit of $500
immediately.

Is this a binding commitment? I'm still waiting for 1 more school that hasn't gotten back to me with any response. The school should do so any day now, but I don't know what to do...I asked for an extension, but the person at the Office told me that it is not allowed.

Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated.
