Good news everyone!

Just a friendly note from a current 1L: if any of you are interested in exploring Intellectual Property stuff, we just got preliminary word that the school is reinstating our IP moot court program. A bunch of current students worked really hard this year to get it put back on the curriculum, so if you have any interest at all, I would encourage you to give it some serious consideration next semester, and hopefully sign up.

If you have any questions about the experience, feel free to PM me! Thanks! :)

Learn to cook! :D

It's really not that hard, and as good a time as any.

If money were all the same I'd be leaning Columbia, but unfortunately I don't see them coming anywhere near my Chicago offer. Just hoping for a big surprise in the next few days to change that.

I'm assuming your talking about this Monday? I'll be the dude in jeans and a shirt. All the ones I've been to have been super casual. I'm assuming Columbia might be a little more classy.

(Tuxedos, all around!)

I'll be rocking jeans. Also about the food thing, cooking is not that hard, put a little oil in a pan roll some veggies and chopped meat around in it for like 10-15 mins and you've got a stir fry. Pasta and rice are cheap and filling. And once you get the basics you realize that there's all sorts of cool fancy stuff to do.

I've become a master of cooking things in the microwave since law school began. I also mastered the art of cooking sandwiches and bowls of cereal.

CLS just updated their employment data for class of 2011: http://www.law.columbia.edu/careers/emp ... statistics
Total Graduates = 456; 445 employed

62.9% of employed graduates in firms size 101+ and 8.3% in fed clerkships.
or... 280 (61.4%) + 37 (8.1%) / 456 = 69.5%

c/o 2010: 69.3%, 10.2%... which means a decline of 7.9% in firms size 101+ and 2.1% in fed clerkships.

I'd say ~70% for OCI 2009, when the market bottomed out, is not bad. It's a 10% drop from class of 2010 data, though. It seems like most believe that while we may not be back to 2010 numbers yet, we're approaching it. So I wouldn't be surprised if c/o 2012 & 2013 data is closer to 75-80%.

Considering the market at the time, 70% is amazing. I must admit I'm a bit jelly that Penn managed to barely beat us. J/K

Agreed. That's actually quite a strong showing. My guess is that we got hit a little harder that year because of the larger class size.

If the economy continues its slow trajectory upwards, I think we'll find ourselves in very good shape come OCI 2013.

Just received $30k. I wish I could be more excited about it, but there's no way I can do that over $90k at Chicago. Already let them know about the Chicago offer too so looks like I'm out. Good luck everyone.

Well, it's looking more and more like Columbia is going to be my home in August... hope to meet you all there! :)

Ps- Everyone should join the (informal) Facebook group if you haven't already... "Columbia Law School - Class of 2015" ... it's looking a little bare in comparison to the other schools I've checked out!

Might be a dumb question, but where do we find the sign up code for housing? Do we need to pay our deposit first or was it sent with other materials?

EDIT: Nevermind, found the housing email from weeks ago!

Did anyone get a Columbia ID number? I seem to need one to fill out the Loan Request Form.

Yeah, I got mine before I even matriculated. I think it comes with the housing info? I know for sure that I got it with my scholarship offer.

Just deposited at CLS and withdrew from everywhere besides my WL at Harvard. So I'll likely be meeting you all soon!

Had a fantastic time at Columbia this weekend. It was the first school that I really clicked with.

Submitted my deposit just now!

I was working on a school budget at work, but I don't have the estimated breakdown for COA with me.

Could someone post it? I believe it was in the fin aid letter and was around 80,000 flat

Estimated COA is ~$79,000 give or take a couple hundred. I don't remember the exact number.

Every time I see this, I get really sad.
