You need to add an option: "I have not gotten in yet but can't help but look longingly at the thread anyways : X"

I took a math final today. Everything I couldn't figure out in my head was "D." I left in twelve minutes.zworykin wrote:Ugh. Can't even imagine doing this if I was still in school. Yay for a short test, at least?
(By the way--I'd like to point out at this point that my avatar has in fact ALWAYS sported a Santa hat. Pope Evil Santa, always fashion-forward and starting the new trends...)

Well, I couldn't get better than a B in the class (apparently there was some kind of online homework worth 15% of our grade? News to me.), and after getting into NYU I really had no incentive to do any better than "not fail," so, hey, why not be wholly irresponsible when there's no repercussions?zworykin wrote:Um. Anyone know NYU's reputation in terms of merit aid? Do median tier candidates get any?

It's working out pretty well for me. I mean, I just got into NYU Law School. You may have heard of it.zworykin wrote:Yeshia90 wrote:... so, hey, why not be wholly irresponsible when there's no repercussions?

They're stingy. Check LSN for merit aid numbers. I think you get to appeal once, so that's where you can try to leverage scholarship money from other schoolssmokeylarue wrote:Anyone know NYU's reputation in terms of merit aid? Do median tier candidates get any?

Ha! So glad someone else is treating their courses like this. I stopped trying so hard once acceptances started coming in. Who needs straight A's when you're in at your favorite schools?Yeshia90 wrote:Well, I couldn't get better than a B in the class (apparently there was some kind of online homework worth 15% of our grade? That sounds exactly like my math final yesterday. Getting into the school I'm 99% sure I'm attending really took the stress out of finals week.Yeshia90 wrote:I took a math final today. They do seem to give 25-30k to a lot of people, but anything above that is rare.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:They're stingy. Check LSN for merit aid numbers. Does anyone know if their need based aid is included in those amounts?Tiago Splitter wrote:They do seem to give 25-30k to a lot of people, but anything above that is rare.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:They're stingy. DLS came 12/12 but I got the call from the dean yesterday. Excited! I went with "still holding on to the CC/HYS dream." Though after being complete for a month with no KB1, it's starting to look more like just "CC" dream...

BTW, I did find this on the website:
Costs, Financial Aid and Scholarships (2010-11)
Tuition and fees: $48,213
Room and board: $19,877
Average scholarship or grant award: $16,500
Percentage of students receiving grants: 46%
Public Interest Funding
Loan Repayment Assistance Program for students pursuing careers in public service
15% of graduating students were funded in 2010, when 450 active participants received nearly $5 million in benefits.
Public Interest summer funding grants
1Ls receive $4,500 and 2Ls receive $6,500. In summer 2011, 317 1Ls and 133 2Ls received grants to work in the U.S. and more than 30 other countries.

Anyone admitted on Monday gone purple yet? My mailman probably thinks I'm stalking him because I've been peering out of the window anxiously every time he delivers to my street...

I will keep vigil. I would imagine based on geography and when I got my DLS that I'll be among the first to receive it.Boston_NYG2245 wrote:Nothing herecuriousgeorgia wrote:Anyone admitted on Monday gone purple yet? Yeah, I expected to get it fairly early too, but I'm pretty sure my mail man hates me for some reason, my last netflix movie never showed up...addy11 wrote:I will keep vigil. Lol, if it's not YHS, then schools don't give need based aid.Perdevise wrote:Does anyone know if their need based aid is included in those amounts?Tiago Splitter wrote:They do seem to give 25-30k to a lot of people, but anything above that is rare.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:They're stingy. Is that a fact? I know YHS are all-need, but I was under the impression that other schools had some, since they all ask for NeedAccess and FAFSA.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
