Oh yes, I totally understand. It's quite a commitment. Especially when it's nearly impossible to hold down a decent job at the same time...

Does Kentucky provide any money to attend ASD? Also, anyone on here going to ASD?

I'll be at ASD on the 24th. No idea about ASD $$, but could use the help since it's an 11 hour drive.

When I asked they kind of beat around the bush about it, so I'm assuming they don't offer any $$. They did promise free parking (yay?).

Just finished visiting today.. I can say that first impressions weren't at all good. The building wasn't looking that good at all :(

After going upstairs, I met with a 1L that was giving me the tour. Although the building is Ancient, I didn't notice it after a while.. The student were VERY nice, and I had the opportunity to sit in a property law class. It was AWESOME! I cannot remember the professor's name but it wasn't at all what I was expecting.

I am seriously considering Kentucky more - I have been given a fellowship for in state tuition, but that still requires a lot of loans. Does anyone have experience negotiating with Kentucky? I have a 35k/yr offer from Mckinney Indianapolis.

Is McKinney ranked? That matters. As do the bar and employment stats. A free education may sometimes be worth what you pay for it. IMHO

This is correct. To be honest, I seriously doubt UK will negotiate with you whatsoever. They have a hefty list of in-staters who are determined to get in and will gladly pay full tuition (which, by the way, is rather low in cost) if given the chance. They definitely won't budge their offering for a non-ranked school.

IU McKinney (aka IU Indianapolis) is ranked 79 and Kentucky is ranked 71, so they seem to be peers. However, IU McKinney's award likely stems from the huge donation that they recently had, so Kentucky might be less willing to match them. I believe I have read similar stories of people trying to get schools to match IU-B's scholarships after their huge donation, but most schools refused to do so.

Going to try and negotiate with Kentucky today based on Cincinnati. Cincinnati was more than willing to negotiate with a UK scholarship in hand. Would be nice to see what I can get, I really can't afford to go to UK based on simply on in state waver considering my husband and I would be moving there.

Absolutely no budge room on negotiations. The person I spoke to said it wouldn't matter if I had a 171 LSAT, there's just no room for additional funds right now on top of scholarships for in state tuition. Likely will withdraw.

So far, barring any other scholly offers and/or acceptances at some pretty stellar schools (off the waitlist) it looks like UK for me in the fall, like 95%. Not a bad deal, I feel, esp with the in-state equalizer and nowhere else has offered me anything else close for the rep.

Alrighty all, I have been cyphering down my schools.. The two schools that remain are the University of Kentucky and Indianapolis Mckinney School of Law. This is a kentucky forum, so opinions may be bias but, what do you all think?

Tuition would cost me $12,000 at Indianapolis, and $17,000 at Kentucky.

I'm not sure what type of law I want to do, though I think I want to work in a big firm (I'm ready to grind it out at law school). I visited and liked both schools.

Much appreciated all!

Not sure where you are living now, but you have to factor in cost of living/moving as well if you are looking at it from the cost perspective.

Also not positive if any super accurate data can be found, but looking at post-grad employment stats might be a factor. If one has significantly higher post-grad employment, it might be worth it to attend that school.

Comment on this or read if you can -- it's about Kentucky + no ties = good? bad? Currently consensus seems to be that it's terrible if you don't have ties.
