Same book, just rolled in today; package is absolutely mangled, like it's been stuck in some gear some place. Feel like people were receiving these a while back too...? Dake, where are you ending up?Dake! wrote:Rec'd a copy of In Brown's Wake, though I'd withdrawn a few weeks back (w/ confirmation), still so cool!

Did you guys reply to the professors that reached out to you? Is that what I should've been doing??

Michigan! Book looks good..I'm excited to read:D And no, I hadn't emailed professors back (with the exception of KB who followed up on the withdrawal), but I want to because they matched professors so well with my interests! I'm hoping they are still so nice post-withdrawal...Twit wrote:Same book, just rolled in today; package is absolutely mangled, like it's been stuck in some gear some place. Everyone is getting a different book (I think all authored by HLS profs), tailored to their application. Some are duplicates but it seems like they're really trying to personalize it.

I was semi hoping everyone got the same book except for me... Either way the book they sent made me feel special lol.splbagel wrote:Everyone is getting a different book (I think all authored by HLS profs), tailored to their application. I got Scorpions! Not really sure why they picked it for me, but it looks like something I'll enjoy.Lovely Ludwig Van wrote:Good lord I hope I get something from Feldman, preferably a signed copy of "Scorpions."
(I don't think it's signed, though - maybe they're saving the signed copy for you : )

Sweet. I was really hoping for "Scorpions" because Feldman is my idol. But I guess a signed copy of "In Brown's Wake" isn't too shabby eithersailboat wrote:I got Scorpions! Did anyone else not yet receive a book? Have I been left out, or are they doing this in batches?

I think the books are only for folks who have sent in their deposits?

Not sure that's the case as I got one on Monday, but didn't send my deposit in until yesterday. In related news, thrilled to have come to a decision and excited to start at Harvard in the fall.splbagel wrote:I think the books are only for folks who have sent in their deposits?

Has anyone started looking for housing. I think I'm going to live off-campus, any ideas where to start looking?

Re: In at Harvard
long time lurker here: i lived near harvard for two years before, there's v. good student housing in my opinion in the inman area, like, the intersection of beacon and kirkland esp. if you are looking for a unit in a townhouse-type house, rather than condo/apart. it's a little further but much cheaper than most housing in the area immediately adjacent to the law school (b/w garden/linnaen/mass ave.) craigslist has come through for me in the past and i expect it will again!

Amateur question in pro forum, but do our deposits have to be postmarked by May 1st or do they have to arrive to them by that date?

Postmarked. Also I hear they extended the deadline to May 16th for recent admits and will happily do it for you too if you ask.Barca10 wrote:Amateur question in pro forum, but do our deposits have to be postmarked by May 1st or do they have to arrive to them by that date?

Re: In at Harvard
I sent a thank-you email directly to the authors (they included their business cards with the book). Not sure if it was "more awkward than polite" but I got friendly responses back.gimelstein315 wrote:Loved my book! Thought it was an extremely kind gesture--and exceptionally relevant to my application and JD/MBA trajectory.
I'm so, so, so pumped to attend! Would it be more awkward than polite to send JS a thank you email? To which email address would you send it?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
