I was wondering if ASU would do that. I assume this will postpone waitlist movement for awhile.

Happy Trails!

It looks like they sent the email to everyone that turned them down. No specific number for the scholarship increase though.

If I was already accepted, I would contact them and demand a bigger scholarship. It seems like they are punishing people financially for accepting them. :(

thank you for that. you can search yourself if you want to know exactly but I'll say i'm nearer the 75th LSAT and below 25th GPA at ASU

So, they are trying to persuade people that have withdrawn to reconsider their decision instead of admitting off the waitlist, which is undoubtedly comprised of people ready, more than willing, and certainly able to accept an offer within seconds of receiving one? I am completely dumbfounded and beyond frustrated.

It's all about the rankings at this point. They're going to go after the people who can keep their medians high. Needless to say, many of these people will be those who have already been accepted.

I'd assume that at some point that the list may include some of those waitlisted if those applicants can help bring up/maintain the specific medians (ie. they may grab a waitlisted candidate with a 4.0 to help keep their gpa median high)

If the school is going to chase people who have withdrawn their application and obviously chosen to attend elsewhere, why have a waitlist then? From what I have heard ASU's waitlist is rather small in comparison to other schools, which led me to think that they try and keep their waitlist comprised of individuals that would be able to keep their median in check, albeit waitlist candidates obviously do not shine as bright as those receiving admission outright. Oh well. I know it is a numbers game - I just wish I knew 3 months ago what I know now - I would not have given up half of the offers I received.

I agree, it seems rather ridiculous that they would do this. But, then again, we really don't have an idea of how many they emailed with the new offers. Could have only been a select group of ppl. I dunno *meh face*. I wish there was something I could do to help all of you who are waiting so patiently.

I personally contacted EVERY person on TLS who said they had been accepted to ASU and either said they withdrew or hadn't said anything about attending.

EVERY person but one said that they received the email from ASU asking them to reconsider. The one person that didn't receive the email said he told ASU admissions off for their unprofessional behavior when he withdrew.

Most of them said they weren't going to ASU no matter how much money they offered, a couple said they didn't trust ASU and this was a ploy, and two people said they responded wanting to know how much money before they would reconsider.

With an alpha of 0.05 and with ASU continuing their trend of accepting around 600 people, I can say with relative statistical certainty that they offered more scholarship money to almost everyone who withdrew.

Well, that's extremely depressing. I really don't understand this. I'm well above both medians, but can't get anything from the one school I actually want to attend.

I withdrew a month ago and received an email asking to reconsider for more money...But...ASU isn't the only school doing this. I have had five other schools do the same thing after I withdrew.

Also, I have five friends who were accepted to ASU and withdrew and I just facebook messaged them asking if ASU emailed them about more money...only one replied that ASU had contacted him after he withdrew. The other four said that they hadn't received anything from ASU for over a month. Waitlisters, there is still hope, I am sure. ASU is just really, really slow on their admissions and I am willing to bet in the next two weeks there will be waitlist activity as they are going to realize that even if they ask students to reconsider most students have already secured housing at other schools/locations and do not want to switch their choice.

Fireworks depress me, they just lead to forest fires, global warming, and a sad reminder that the slaves weren't enjoying them in 1776 (thank you Chris Rock).

Plus I had to spend the evening running statistical software, and I am hoping to use the information to leverage scholarship money.

My concern is that ASU is one of the last schools to do this. Most schools did this two months ago, a few even did this a month ago.

I have even read where schools rejected people and then came back and accepted them.

All of this was done months ago.

I'm not sure why you seem surprised about this; it goes right along with ASU's style.
