Wanna do some digging on the wait list too? Lol. I'm curious how many people they put on it and how many they pull from it.

Did you get a decision yesterday or today?

That's not good news for me. Although, something doesn't seem to add up to me. Gaud said they have over 1,000 files left to review, but in the wait list email, it said they received about 2,000 applications this year. While possible, it seems unlikely to me that they've only gotten to half at this point...

The story I got from a second hand source is that the Admissions department has handed out it's acceptances for the year. It will go through the last group of people to see if there is something exceptional about them to see if they should be added to the waitlist.

Generally speaking everyone who hasn't gotten a decision by now should expect to be denied.

In the past waitlist movement has been hit or miss. Some years a lot of movement some little.

The Law school has admitted around 550 people for 200 slots.

Like I mentioned, I don't know how reliable this information is.

Woah. That's pretty interesting stuff. Is that a high number of acceptances compared to normal? I wonder what that bodes for in terms of the wait list. Do we know what their yield has been in the past?

Well, I suppose I should begin anticipating either being denied or waitlisted. I was really hoping there would be at least one more wave of acceptances coming.

There may not be 1000 apps they haven't looked at, but I'm certain they haven't finished looking at them all. The woman I spoke with last night mentioned she had about 260 applications to go through and that she wasn't the only one who still had a pile left. So, unless she was lying to me, which wouldn't make much sense since I'm already admitted and it was a casual convo, they aren't finished. Anything is possible, though.

EDIT: Polysuyguy may be right that there aren't any more acceptances to be handed out, but the way it sounded was that she hasn't even looked at the other apps yet. I'm not sure if they have already been filtered into that pile, or really anything about the pile lol. Just that there are applications left to be reviewed. It's certainly possible that they are 'borderline' applications and that they may be looking for those exceptional few, but I don't know.

Do we think they're really done handing out acceptances?

If they are, it's retake and reapply mode for me. I really didn't want to wait another year to start law school, but I am not giving up on ASU just yet.

There is no way they're done accepting people. I was accepted the day before yesterday, and was basically an auto-admit.

If this becomes your decision, feel free to talk to me about it (ie. reapplying, retaking, rewriting statements, all the 're's, lol). I took a year off for a retake and it's the best decision I've ever made.

Thanks! I cringe at the thought of having to retake, but my score as it stands is mediocre, at best. With ASU's new ranking I doubt I would be any sort of competitive next cycle without a retake and better score. BUT, for now, I will think positive and hope there is still possibility for an acceptance in my very near future.

Did you apply to ASU last cycle and get rejected (if you don't mind me asking)?

Yea. Kinda glad they did it now that I think about it. It gave me more time to enjoy my life and build my resume.

I was talking to an ASU class of 2010 law grad on Saturday. He works at a boutique patent firm in Tempe. They currently have an ASU 3L intern working there. The intern says, out of his entire class that will be graduating in a few weeks, about 25% or less have gigs lined up. The rest are scrambling.

At the welcome program for admitted students on Friday, I specifically asked about the class of 2011 full-time bar-required employment numbers. Although they haven't been officially released yet, they gave me a percentage somewhere in the 80's.

Something does not add up. For that reason (and some other reasons) I will likely be sticking with my current gig in IT, at least for the time being, and withdrawing.

^ I recall you asking that question.

I don't believe the 80%. I know roughly ten grads from the past graduating class and they've all told me that maybe, just maybe, half of their class has gigs (full-time, J.D. Required)
