+1 Def from SF area code.lakers3peat wrote:called via SF area code
They called at 3:55 and I live in SC. Maybe they're calling east coast first since it's getting past business hours here.martorem wrote:Congrats! why would you ever consider Hastings over NU even with half scholarship? the difference is like night and dayryemanhattan wrote:steepair wrote:in via phone call from dean of admissions last night! i kinda only applied to hastings as a back up in case i decided i wanted to stay in san francisco (born and raised in the bay area, lived in SF proper for the past 7 years or so), but the more i look at the school, the more appealing it has become. i have heard they don't give much in the way of scholarship money, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for something. have a couple of nice scholarships from some decent schools, but not sure if i want to relocate to the east coast yet. any 1Ls know if hastings will negotiate?
for what it's worth...164/3.63.
I spoke with Hastings admissions yesterday, as I'm contemplating throwing an app their way. He said, unsurprisingly, that he couldn't discuss my chances at a scholarship, as a matter of policy. He also said that they do give some scholarships but, at most, this amounts to half tuition. I would apply if I could get a fee waiver, but they won't give me one. Already safely in at Northwestern so I would only consider Hastings if I got a half-ride, but I'm an extreme splitter so I do not think it is likely. Probably just going to save the $80.
Complete conjecture: with your numbers, you might get a scholarship, but it wouldn't be close to the half-ride maximum.
Me too! They were extremely nice on the phone. I'm so excited!horrorbusiness wrote:in via phone call just now!

Interesting. I guess Hastings is sending out (at least) two different envelope types to keep us all on our toes. On Saturday they sent me a big envelope with "Congratulations!" printed on its outside cover.zx92027xz wrote:acceptance letter came today via snail mail. (160/3.9) normal sized envelope... kind of had me worried it was a rejection letter.
