Congrats! Did you receive the email recently and, if so, when? How long do you have to decide?rrami006 wrote:I received a call today and was admitted off the waitlist with a $11500 renewable grant.

Anyone consider sending an LOCI? I know the waitlist website says they don't want any communication via email/phone, but if it gets later in the cycle I think I just might send mine in. A few people sent LOCI's last year and were still admitted. Thoughts?

They don't give you any merit aid. I only know one person who came off the waitlist last year and got money (and that's because they were already attending the summer program at Cardozo and personally asked for scholarship money.) It's very rare.
However, you can get up to ~15.5K in "Hastings Grants." These are need-based. If you don't have much need expect somewhere in the high single digits. If you're really poor then expect the full amount. Almost everyone gets a "Hastings Grant." They are renewable and tend to increase with tuition hikes.
Either way, it does almost nothing to cover the COA.

Yes, send one. I sent a LOCI through snail mail, and was admitted off the waitlist this cycle.LockBox wrote:Anyone consider sending an LOCI? Got in off the WL, got some merit aid, not much, but there is some hope that it happens.kapital98 wrote:magicdonquan wrote:So does anyone know what kind of scholarship money is generally offered to those accepted off the WL?

Maybe Hastings finally realized that the amount of aid that people get can substantially impact which school they will attend and decided to get in the game.

just got in from waitlist as well. offered some money, but would like more since their tuition went up by $5739 this year for California residents and $3239 for non-residents.

That's one excellent LSAT score. I'm somewhat surprised you weren't accepted outright -- even with the low GPA.splitsplat wrote:Thanks! #s in my profile.kapital98 wrote: Congragulations!

I was admitted off the waitlist last week as well. Still waiting on financial aid info, they said in an email today that I should be receiving it soon!

I'm confused about the waitlist. Do you have to deposit the $500 immediately when they call or do you get some time?

I was given a week to decide, I think that is standard.masked kavana wrote:I'm confused about the waitlist. Do you have to deposit the $500 immediately when they call or do you get some time?

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the $500 back (or a portion of it back) if you withdraw?

It's supposedly "non-refundable." If you're serious about withdrawing, I don't see how it would hurt to ask...PoliticalJunkie73 wrote:Does anyone know if it is possible to get the $500 back (or a portion of it back) if you withdraw?

Done, I just withdrew. I hope my spot goes to one of you. I'll let you know if any of the deposit gets returned to me (I'm guessing no).onedavetoomany wrote:It's supposedly "non-refundable." From what I've seen and read:masked kavana wrote:Does Anyone know the maximum amount of grant/scholarship money that hastings gives students?
$15k Grants (most get around $10k)
$15k Merit aid
Total = $30k
It seems like $20-25k is typical for applicants who they really want.

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
Got in off the waitlist last week with $21,500/year in scholarship money. I just withdrew - I'm a little upset because if I had been admitted straightaway I would have been able to visit and seriously consider Hastings. I love San Francisco and I think I would be happy studying there but I just can't commit like this. I hope someone here gets my spot and money!! Good luck guys!!

It's only May. You should ask Greg Canada for an extension and visit before making your decision.martorem wrote:Got in off the waitlist last week with $21,500/year in scholarship money. Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
I thought about doing that, but honestly I'm still not sure I would choose it. I've already committed to another school and I've been gearing up to move in and find roommates, etc. I'm really excited about where I will be attending too so at this point I'm okay with where I'll be in the fall. Oh well, Hastings' loss!splitsplat wrote:It's only May.
