I applied late November. Probably will email them to withdraw off the waitlist very soon despite their request not to email them about the waitlist.ensign85 wrote:Any waitlisted people apply in December? Still nothing here. LEOP applicant.

I think I saw your tour the neighborhood isn't too awful- I am walking to the federal building (one block away!) to hve a mock interview with an alum at the doj. I was able to have a real interview there the other day in between classes because we are so close by! Not that many schools can say that.lrslayer wrote:Just saw him. tour went great. what a nice school. the neighborhood does it no justice and the view from the top of the tower is amazing. me gusto.ensign85 wrote:Congrats! Why is living in downtown a nightmare? Is it just the money or the possibility of getting mugged? lol What about the school towers? Are those ok places to live in?Blumpbeef wrote:lrslayer wrote:Finished my biz at the superior court early and now im waiting for the twelve o'clock tour
@bess, the reason why I'm not in SF anymore is because of living expenses. You can get a crappy room half an hour by bus away for around $600 in the sunset or near Ingelside. Living downtown is a nightmare though. You can get lucky and find something for around $700 or $800, but a nice place is $1200+. $1500-$1700 for a studio is reasonably common.

I just meant that it is a nightmare in terms of actually finding a decent place and then having to pay for it.
I don't think you will get mugged. You might feel like you're going to get mugged in the Tenderloin, but I don't think it is actually unsafe.

to people with security concerns: don't walk home, take the free shuttle that leaves every half hour after 5pm. It goes within 1 mile of the school (there is a map that the security guard has to show the boundaries). It goes within a block of my house. I take it home almost every day.. it also saves me $2 worth of bus money. I don't really understand why more people don't take it, it's so convenient.

You can also get an unlimited BART/Muni (bus/underground) pass for around $70 a month. Instead of $2 per trip, it makes sense for anyone who uses public transport on a daily basis.

Anybody know how long it normally takes to hear from Hastings? I've only been complete since 1/12, so I imagine it could take a while, but I know some people who applied in late December/early January have already heard back.
