Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
Eh, idk. But someone earlier in this thread got 105k over 3 years. That's the highest I've seen. And if you haven't gathered already, their stips are pretty tough.180asBreath wrote:Any chance at full?puremorning wrote:snail mail. Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
DePaul said they never give out full-rides because it is against their philosophy (or something like that)--they don't want the weaker applicants subsidizing the tuition of full-ride students. They also said the biggest merit scholarship is 30k/year.180asBreath wrote:Any chance at full?puremorning wrote:snail mail. You will def get some.180asBreath wrote:My status says: Decision Rendered

Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
Good to know, thanks. That's the one thing that's weighing so heavily on my mind when it comes to picking a law school. Forged stats aside, in a market like Chicago where there are what, at least 7 law schools immediately in the area, not to mention higher ranked ones like UMich and Notre Dame close by, the job market is going to suck for those lower ranked schools. Chicago is an awesome city and I'd love to go somewhere new and fun, but I realize I'd have much more ease and success with finding employment if I stayed in a smaller city like Indy, Cleveland, Pitt, or Cinci, not to mention saving on the cost of living. While DePaul, LUC, Chicago-Kent are all great law schools, it's the competition of the others that might keep me from going there.hiphopvhlr wrote:To all my DePaul people, as anyone heard anything about this:

Same here. Getting into these school has been exciting, as I visited them last year and loved them, plus the city is incredible. However, coming out of places like these with monstrous debt and trying to compete in that market is terrifying. Really disappointing, as I would much rather go to school at DePaul or Loyola than most other schools I'm looking at, but you've gotta be realistic about your future...

Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
Yeah, the amount of schools in and around chicago is ridiculous. 6 in the city, and UIUC, ND, NIU, and Marquette are all within 2 hours...plus, WUSTL and Michigan are close by. I think a job can be had, but the fact that the odds are against you, plus the outrageous COA (even with a huge scholarship), are all factors to take into consideration. I applied to Loyola, Kent, and DePaul, all schools I would like to attend, but I just don't see the viability. I think if you don't restrict yourself to Chicago you can find something...but too few people want to do this. A rural county asst. state's attorney's office might hire someone, but the income/debt tough to deal with. I know that this argument has been done before, but I think that of those 3 TT's, Loyola is the most solid. Unfortunately, it is also the most stingy...what can a person do?checkster wrote:Same here. LUC at least places 11% in BIGLAW. While that number sounds horrible, it's actually better than a lot of T1s, and not too far off from some T30 schools.

Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
Received the email on Friday staying I should receive a decision in no longer than 2-3 weeks.
Considering scores, there is almost no chance I get significant scholarship money, so there is a limited chance I attend if offered admittance.

Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
If I get the full scholarship from Depaul, I might consider it.
I wish I knew I'd be able to get a job out of Depaul or I'd not worry about not getting into Illinois. There is no question where I'd rather live for the next 3 years... Chicago or some smelly farm town.

Hey everyone I might have over looked this (sorry if I did!), but how long on average did it take for them to decide on aceptance/deny from the time your file was complete/under review? Thanks.

Re: DePaul 2011-2012 Cycle
To the guy asking how long from under review to decision. Here is the info I have regarding my application:
Decision 01/26/2012
Decision Letter Sent 01/27/2012
File Completed Notification 01/20/2012
Application Received Notification 01/11/2012
I'm not sure which of those, if any, would designate the beginning of "in review."
