Just got a fee waiver e-mail from BYU law. This late in the cycle makes me think it's just to pad their selectivity rating, but would "The Lord's" university do that?

Anyone know how to withdraw to free up a seat for someone else? I got an offer I couldn't turn down elsewhere.

Email them, ask to withdraw your app. No form or anything. (be sure to include your LSAC #)

No, thank YOU. Every person that withdraws increases my chances with my slightly-less-than-median numbers.

I'm sorry to hear that, I'll probably be joining you soon. Did they tell you by e-mail?

Just applied because of the fee waiver. Accepted at Illinois, but since I'm already in Provo it would be nice to stay. Wife goes to uvu.

Nope, snail mail. I figure they're trying to let you down easy, and that's why they set the status checker to "Decision Rendered" instead of "Rejected" or just sending you a rejection email.

And another reason to seriously consider spending time and tuition here:

If you seriously think that the actions of one person, or even a few people, are representative of BYU as a school, the culture of the people in Provo, or the quality of the education you can get there, then please withdraw your application so I can have a better chance of being accepted.

I would LOVE to attend JRC Law school for its value.

Actually, these actions are representative of the school and its holier than thou atmosphere. Here is another one for you. When my sister went to law school at BYU, she actually had some of the spouses of her male classmates approach her and tell her that she should not be at BYU because she was "taking the spot of someone else's husband to be there [law school] and diminishing someone's chance to provide for their family."

Another thing to consider...... getting into BYU is not about your numbers, background, etc... It is all about "who you know" -- so having a few GA's that are family friends call the law school on my behalf helped with my acceptance.

Also, I am positive that I am not attending BYU -- but I am going to pay my full seat deposit just to fill up a spot until classes begin. :D

I feel bad for all of you that got rejected.

You should have spent less time studying for the LSAT and more time encouraging your dad to start playing golf with Dean Rasband or some other higher-up. It seemed to work pretty well for a girl I knew with a score in the 140s.

Don't worry. I won't be at BYU. But I am going to drop the money on the seat deposit -- just to fill up a space.

We all know it must be very hard for you to handle being rejected by BYU, so if it will make you feel better, please go ahead and send in that imaginary seat deposit and we'll all pretend to be upset. You keep pretending you got accepted and I'll go ahead and pretend you're at graduation. Hey, I'll even put down the deposit on your cap and gown. While we're at it, do you want me to go ahead and get your honors robes for your graduation, because I'm sure you'll graduate top of your class?!

Don't know if you are envious or bitter that BYU isn't my best option. Really just trying to show people that you can get into a school with more than just your GPA and LSAT. Just saying.

This back and forth is a lame. If you don't want to accept an admissions offer from BYU, fine. I'm also undecided at present. I was offered a full tuition scholarship without any special phone calls or connections, and while my numbers are good for BYU, they're not out of this world.

On the other hand, griping about BYU being a horrible institution comes across as bitter and shallow. Obviously the school is not a good fit for everyone. Of course the culture is unique. I know a lot of people who have had really positive experiences there.

Concerning your forum response, am I supposed to be envious or bitter that:
1) You feel the need to block someone else from being accepted re: "I am going to drop the money on the seat deposit -- just to fill up a space",
2) "BYU isn't [your] best option" or
3) As you so thoughtfully posted to my Inbox, "Say what you want. You are just angry and bitter you haven't been accepted yet"?

How is that showing us that we can get into a school "with more than just your GPA and LSAT"? I'm really not following your irrational thought process.

Your rantings and ravings are reminiscent of a tantruming 5 year old and therefore I don't feel the need to engage in further discussions with you.

Good luck in your future.

Agreed, at least he should fear. Be it known that I will personally notify BYU as well as other schools that you have stated interest in applying to of your identity though if you continue to make ludicrous statements on this thread.

I was hoping someone here who has been accepted or is a student at BYU could help me. I submitted my application at the very end of December and I haven't heard anything from them. How long should I wait before I call them?

I posted yesterday and hadn't heard anything. Is there anyone that can answer my question about if I should call or not? If you want to send me a PM instead that would be fine. Thank you for your help.
