I have applied to all WA and OR schools and have not heard anything yet. Also as for the debate between L&C and U of O this was in the L&C forum. It is employment stats for what school top Oregon firms hired from.

Anyone know how easy/hard it is to establish residency after 1L?

Based on last years forum they said it was next to impossible

"Anyone know how easy/hard it is to establish residency after 1L?"

^ is correct. I have been an Oregon resident my whole life and they still charged me out of state tuition (initially, until I raised hell) four semesters in a row! But you cannot earn residency while you are a student; residency is based all three years on where you are a resident when you start. I think it takes two years of driving, working, and voting in Oregon while not attending school to earn in-state residency (maybe 3?).

Do you know if this applies to undergrad too? My gf is planning to move with me and she refuses to pay out of state for any school. Will she likely have to wait two full years? (I believe most states only require one year in-state before residency can be claimed.)

Just curious if anyone has heard anything. Since my app went complete in mid-November, I haven't heard anything...

judging by last year's LSN and what has been posted this year, I wouldn't expect to hear anything all that soon. I would sure like to get decisions but not much to do.

llachans- I don't know about residency for undergrads, but I imagine it is the same. You can call the financial aid office and ask what someone would need to do to qualify for in-state tuition at both schools. It might even be online.

Spoke with someone on the phone yesterday who said that they're reviewing the first round of apps and they will be sending more letters in the next week or so. By "first round" she said apps from september to early january

I mean, I knew Oregon was slow, but I had completely forgotten about them altogether until I saw this pop up. And I live in Oregon.

I guess they wait until at least some of the dust settles before they start making/sending decisions that way they can weed out the people who considered Oregon a safety

This is the only school I'm waiting on and it happens to be my top choice. WTF Oregon. I'm above both medians. Let's go.

I think I prefer the no status checker method. Makes you kind of forget you applied and time goes by a lot faster and easier. Also it makes you less psychotic. Bravo UofO.

Got accepted via snail mail today, with a Deans' Scholarship. Letter dated Feb 3rd, 2012--I'm in the pacific northwest, so it didn't have to get very far at all. I went complete on 11/22.

Good luck to those still waiting!

What were your stats? I went complete around the same time and am trying to hold off on planning my L&C visit as long as I possibly can. Did they include an ASW date?!

Oregon is my #1 but my stats are pretty low! We'll see what happens.

I can't speak for the other person, but I got my acceptance packet today. Deans scholarship 10k a year renewable with 2.0 or above. ASW is April 7, but you can also contact the admissions office for friday tours of the school and lunch on them. 3.46/160. Good luck to you!

I'm really hoping I can follow you on this. Complete on 11/22 as well but all the way in New Jersey. DO WORK, USPS.

I'm thrilled to hear this. I'm a number twin (3.5/160) and was hoping to get some money out of them. That gpa stip is not bad at all! Hopefully I'll hear similar news soon! You totally just made my day!

Yeah the scholarship stip seems very easy. The information packet states that virtually all scholarship recipients keep getting renewed annually. The 2.0 is actually what they consider being in good academic standing not a particular class percentile rank. So as long as you're enrolled full time and in good standing you keep your scholarship. Good luck to you!

I have one day to check out the campus and the area. What must-sees should I check out for Eugene? Any tips are appreciated. I'm trying to sway my SO in the direction of U Oregon and she has a co-worker who pretty much discouraged her from ever living in Eugene.

I went to undergrad at UofO and ended up loving Eugene. Take a 5 minute walk east of campus to the river and stroll along the path. Go to Max's bar on 13th Ave (near campus) and drink a Ninkasi. Perhaps the most essential thing to do in Eugene, though, is this - buy a joke book from Frog (older gentleman with big white beard who sells his joke books on 13th near the bookstore). Look for his bike, trailer full of joke books, and rubber chickens. He can't be missed.
