It's actually really creeping me out that I withdrew my acceptance but people now have all of my information. I might be filling out a complaint form as well. I also think they should e-mail ALL the accepted students because their info has been released, and not just the students who may still deposit.

That apology was pretty patronizing..."just as you would as a lawyer".

I thought it was a poor job of trying to cover their asses. I hope they have some money set aside for law suit settlements..

Exactly the feeling I got. "Please don't be mad that we shared your personal information with 400+ people you likely don't know"

I don't really care, although I'm not thrilled about people at my school having my GPA/LSAT, except for the fact that I'm sure this will be posted online someday and I don't really want my name out there for that.

Just out of curiosity, would it just be a FERPA issue? Are there private law suits with FERPA cases or do they just risk losing federal money?

That was the way I interpreted it. I received that letter yesterday as well.

Yep... mine says
As soon as you complete the form, your acceptance letter will be mailed to you.

Nice way of bumping up their yield numbers.

Wrong thread.

I'm sorry that this happened to all of you. I didn't apply, but man. How awful. :(

Please don't spread info. At most numbers, if you have to.

I'm one of the people you see right when you open the thing. Hilarious! I ain't mad- how hard I am laughing about this more than covers my breach of privacy. Baylor is totally screwed.

I can't imagine how mad some of you must be.

Yeah, I'm not really upset either. I can see why some would be upset.

I just don't see Baylor having severe repercussions.

I think if social security numbers were posted then it would be different.

Or direct links to everyone's Facebook pages. If that happened I would have been glued to my computer today.

ETA- I have been glued to my computer.

Such a demeaning, preemptive attempt at trying to guilt all of you from striking back with a FAT class-action.

Also, didn't Ken Starr recently give up LS Presidency at Pepperdine to become president of Baylor? Bad timing.....

My mom just pointed me to this, sounds like law suit would be tough under FERPA. Of course, I don't know how LSAT/undergrad GPA disclosure would affect things:

The name of the VP for business affairs in that article is "Marty Baylor". Oh the irony

Despite its frustrating content, the real problem I have with that article is how badly written it was. My journalism teachers would execute me for that useless dribble.

SIDE note: wouldn't it be better if they had called their paper the "Bay-Lariat"? It just rolls way better off the tongue.

ETA: It's on ATL now but apparently those links don't work on here. Try this?

So this doesn't qualify as "unauthorized use" of the information per the e-mail we got from them last night?

It bothers me that the office was throwing this spreadsheet around via e-mail, e-mail is NOT a secure form of communication for personal info.

Doesn't mean we can't try, especially now that it has been plastered online. At least ATL redacted all/most of the personal identifying information (though if you went do a weird school, like me, you could still figure out my GPA/LSAT). That AgLaw forum post contained a really poorly redacted screenshot of the list that still showed about half of everyone's names.

RIGHT! You'd think since thats his girlfriend he would've been better about hiding stuff, but I bet she isn't in that shot.

Anyone else notice the index score?
