Okay so I am seeing all this controversy of SMU vs Baylor and the general vibe I am getting is that most people believe SMU has better employment and that Baylor is a bunch of extra "bullshit" that employers don't really care about. I find this odd considering of the 10+ lawyers I have talked to, all of whom are considered extremely successful, no one said anything about SMU at all. Granted I am in Austin so maybe it is a situation of different markets, but I was pretty much told exclusively Baylor, South TX, and UT.

thoughts?

Good thing my application is still complete from November 2!!!!!!! Think they could get around to looking at it at least once in 3 months.

Austin is notorious for having a very saturated legal market, so it's probably not the best place to think about. SMU is way better in DFW than Baylor, and Baylor is about the same or a little better in Houston, for big law. But Baylor's third year is extremely hard, meaninglessly from what many say.

That makes sense about Dallas. Luckily I can't stand the place so I guess I don't need to worry. As far as the third year goes, most people I talked to actually pointed out the 3rd year as being a legitimate upside since their biggest complaint about law students these days it complete lack of practical knowledge. None of these lawyers went to Baylor btw, but one was a visiting prof for a few years.

I'm sure many people are helped by it, especially if they plan to go into trial law. Others see it as a distraction from the job hunt or taking classes that they would prefer to take.

It makes me sad that you would put South Texas in the same sentence as Baylor... and UT. Especially UT.

Accepted with scholarship of 15,000 a year. Still expensive.

The quality of the schools is seen by most to be drastically different.

I don't think Baylor is as in love with LSAT scores as some other Texas schools. I think my GPA precludes the possibility of the big money.

I'm in the same boat. I wonder why it's taking so long.

I think it also has something to do with when you applied. mtyler, when you applied there was probably a lot more money left to give out.

True, didn't think about that. Which is also weird, because they applied almost 2 months before I did and got accepted around 2 months after me.

Good point, I should've said "accepted," haha. That's odd. Maybe you had a really good PS!

Fall. I wonder if I could have got more money if I'd applied for a different semester.
