Thanks, I'm impressed with the packet. Unlike others, it actually provides information about first year curriculum with a list of classes you will take in both Fall and Spring. Additionally, the scholarship stipulation for renewal is only a 2.75 gpa...so no pressure about losing your funding in subsequent years.

I'm paying a visit to Gonzaga at the end of the month. I really hope they're "the one."

In via snail mail today. It is actually a pretty nice packet, I'll give them that. $8,000 scholarship with a 2.75 stipulation, so not too shabby when coupled with financial aid. Unfortunately Gonzaga's still fairly low on my list because it's so far away and I'm unsure about Spokane, but still, good offer.

If I recall correctly, it says "Good News!" on the envelope, which does take some of the fun out of it.

Yep, the envelope says "Good News!" in bolded letters, so it kills some of the fun of an admission. I'm more of a fan of the single piece of paper a la SLU. Gives you some suspense.

I'm going in a few weeks, but I'd love to hear what it's like living in Spokane. I'm not looking to live there after LS, but Gonzaga is one of my options.

Sorry, I forgot to check the thread.

Spokane isn't spectacular, but it's a good place to live. You get the typical four seasons, and sometimes at extremes. During my freshman year, temperatures in August were up over 100. During my junior year, we had a ridiculous blizzard that dropped something like six feet of snow. Generally, though, the climate is about the same as the Midwest (e.g. Illinois, Ohio, etc.). Spokane's climate is different from Seattle in the sense that it's not going to be dreary and rainy a lot of the time.

On the downside, Spokane is not very diverse, though there is a pretty big Russian immigrant population. Also, cost of living in Spokane is low. If I were a law student, I would look at living up on the South Hill or Browne's Addition. The neighborhood surrounding Gonzaga is not nice at all; there's a lot of poverty and a decent amount of crime.

With a population over 200K, you can always find stuff to do. In the past decade or two, the downtown area has really been revitalized and is actually very nice now. There are a lot of neat little quirky shops downtown, along with a mall, and a nice park. If running or biking is your thing, look up the Centennial Trail, which goes right through campus and all the way to Idaho. And if you want to get away, Seattle is only a four hour drive (35 minute plane ride) and Coeur d'Alene is about 45 minutes away. Also, Leavenworth is a cool town about three hours away.

In terms of restaurants, I highly recommend Sushi.com, which is downtown. I can give more personalized recommendations if you let me know what you like.

Generally, I think the law school follows the same model as the main university in the sense that it's a very collegial, accepting community committed to service. It may be difficult to find a job coming out of GU Law, but you'd likely be hard-pressed to find a better community of people and administration.

Sorry, there is a random, generic answer to a generic question, but let me know if there's anything more specifically you want to know.

Sorry to repost, but just wondering if those who have been accepted had any seat deposits listed, and also if the mailing showed anything sent, because mine still only has the Complete email. Thanks!

Though I can not speak forthis situation specifically; several schools have not postred seat deposit ammounts for accepted applicants on the boards and for a few of my friends.

I am posting this to encourage all people who joined TLS in 2007 to do something useful like go practice law or at least go away.

Got an email saying my financial aid award is ready for online viewing, but the instructions seem to be bad and I can't quite figure out how to access it.

Follow the link in the email to the zagweb and for your username use your social sec. number. For your pin use your birthdate in 6 digit format (i.e. June 17, 1988 = 061788). Hope this helps.

No grants or anything, just a full Stafford and grad plus. Not sure how attractive the $8,000 scholarship is going to be without grant money.

Thanks! I definitely am not disappointed, didn't mean to come across that way. Given my average LSAT, it's actually kind of heartening that they gave me any scholarship money, so Gonzaga is definitely on the maybe list. There's just no way I can visit before having to make a decision - I'm a National Guard officer on active duty for training for the next few months and I have to pick and choose which weekend open houses I decide to fly to, and Washington is just a bit too far away.

JAG... eh. Maybe. I'm fairly ambivalent about staying in past my commitment, so I'm not sure. Ask me in another year I suppose. :)
