aaaaand a tad scared haha

My thoughts exactly! I'm actually pretty excited :) I hope I don't eat my words the first week of classes. I heard Jacobson is pretty rough :/

Yea...just looked him up on Ratemyprofessors...could go either way. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Late night study groups, here we come! haha I guess we should enjoy our freedom while we still have it.

Just received an e-mail asking me if I can come in for an interview for the May start program. Did anyone else interview for this? If so, what did they ask you? Thanks.

I've opted for Cardozo (fall) after much deliberation and some scholly negotiation. I live here and I noticed a lot of questions about housing, so if anyone needs help (assuming you're not planning on living in the dorm...it's called the "Alabama" right?), I'll try to help you as best I can. The first piece of advice is you need to be HERE in order to see landlords right away because our housing market is just very quick and apartments are snapped up asap. I can also suggest some neighborhoods in Queens (I live in Astoria, which is great), Brooklyn, and upper Manhattan if you're looking to save money.

See everyone in the fall! :)

Withdrew from Cardozo May program last week after getting in off the WL, and just got in to the fall program. GL to all. 162/3.2

Congrats! I didn't even know that was possible. I figured if I withdrew from May, I wouldn't get into fall. Oh well, I guess fall wasn't meant to be for me. lol

I am thinking of living in the Alabama, but there is no info on how much rent is. I heard that it is "extremely cheap for Manhattan" But, im not sure what that means exactly since its near 13th street. I guess i'll try calling the school to speak with someone tomorrow.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think it's $1300/month/person to live in a small double, $1800/month/person for a large double and $2300/month/person to live in a single. That includes utilities and the common area.

Their website is very difficult to navigate, but if you google what your looking for you might get lucky. Remember this is from 2008 so figure the cost has gone up about $1000 total since...

just received an email saying I was waitlisted. I'm hoping I can get into the May program, but being waitlisted this late means a likely rejection, no?

Waitlisted folks happy to get in at full tuition price? Serious negativity on this forum regarding this school / employment & cost.

Yeah, I also heard that at the ASD in March, but it's a little misleading. It is true that it's extremely cheap for that part of Manhattan, which is pretty much prime real estate. I live in Astoria, a neighborhood in Queens (10-15 minute ride from midtown, 30 minutes tops to get to Union Square), and pay $850 for a studio with everything included. Granted, this was a steal when I got it and I have no intention of letting go of it anytime soon. You'll find cheaper rent uptown (the express A train makes this doable), in Brooklyn, and in Queens. This is all assuming that you'd be fine with commuting.

I'm not even thinking about going unless I get a 100K,...which I am now finally realizing will not happen...NYC COL is insane!

I agree with that. I live deeper into Brooklyn, and it's still about a 35-40 minute train ride to get to Cardozo. While $850 with utilities included is a rare deal, you can find a large one bedroom apartment for $1100-$1300 in many parts of Brooklyn. To those of you not familiar with NYC, my advice is don't be afraid to get further away from Cardozo, just make sure you're near a train line.

Yeah, it was a mad process. I essentially "won" the apartment because I was the quickest in producing proof of income, reference from previous landlord, and security deposit. $1100-$1300 is certainly doable in Astoria as well, plus neighborhoods like Sunnyside and Woodside. Also? You'll actually have a decently sized apartment. I didn't even see the Alabama, so I have no idea how big they are but if they're anything like other Manhattan studios and 1BR's, you'll find much bigger in Brooklyn or Queens.
