Just sent an e-mail out for scholarship/aid consideration. I'll post an update in case anyone else wants to venture into the breach.

I emailed a scholarship appeal letter to USD and within a week I got a response. Its worth a shot to all of you considering asking for money!

I just got accepted two days ago... Should I contact admissions and inquire about scholarships? I don't want to be a pest. I just sent in the form earlier today.

Unless you have additional information to add to the financial aid form no. Wait until you receive your financial aid award (the amount of loans you got approved for). If you didn't receive any scholarship money in that then I would write asking for tuition assistance.

They might give you some based on what you already filled out, so just wait. That is how I did it anyway.

No dice on any aid, merit or otherwise. Not terribly excited about the prospect of taking out a mortgage to go to law school.

after a DR, can i call and ask what it is? deposit deadlines are approaching and i really dont want to pay for two schools. I have been complete since mid December.

Most schools have a policy of not giving decisions over the phone. Never hurt to try, but you may just have to wait for snail mail.

yeah. I was going to try it and see how it goes. Maybe ill get into somewhere better in the mean time.

So I went to the campus visit day today and enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day in San Diego so the school looked beautiful as always. Here's what I took away from the day and some stuff that was mentioned by the administration:

-They are cutting the class size down to 275 for next year and made it seem like they planned to continue to do so after this year.
-The new Dean seemed very into study abroad programs and is starting some kind of Washington DC semester program.
-The administration is talking about revamping the 1L curriculum but that wouldn't be for a few a years anyway. It sounded like they've been talking about doing a lot of the things UCI is doing as far as practical training for 1L's and stuff like that.
-Intramural softball is a big part of the law school.

Anyway, I love the campus and San Diego is great but I'm worried about the job market for USD grads in San Diego and Southern California so I'm not sure if I'll be attending given my other options. Good luck to everyone waiting!

Did everyone in NorCal receive an e-mail regarding alumni and admitted students events at various restaurants this coming week? Two of my friends got the email (they were admitted before me and have stronger numbers), but I didn't.

My friend forwarded me the email and called the school to ask them if I could attend b/c one is in my town (my listed address however, is 60 miles away), and they said I could if I was an admitted student. I called to register, the guy took my info, said I would get a confirm email and I never did. I was wondering if I was even meant to go to this event, or if it was only specific applicants who were invited? Anyone else receive this email?

Still waiting to hear back from Loyola, but I'm going to be putting my USd deposit down in a next few days. A bit nervous about moving/finding apartment and roommate, but I have a really good feeling about this!
