I wish I could give you my place on the WL. I was a bit shocked that they put me on it in the first place, and honestly I think it is Nature telling me to not waste three years of my life in Lubbock. The only thing that people at Tech talk to me about is how they now have a PEI WEI ANDOMGISNTTHATEXCITING. I will be withdrawing my app. The law school itself does look nice, and good luck to all of those attending! It just is not for me.
I didn't even know we had a pei wei here. I'll need to check that out. And sorry to hear about the wait list. I would say it might possibly be YP (not too sure though) and that a loci would get you in, but it doesn't sound like you have any continuing interest

Ef pei Wei. Go to a school that has a freebirds nearby, which tech does. You can thank me later.

I'm thinking of attending STCL or St. Mary's and hopefully get into a better school via transfer. My GPA is low, but there isn't much I can do about that now. I CAN however, do well in whatever school I land in and transfer up.
Sorry to hear. But I would advise against going to a school with the intention of transferring. Assume you will be median and not able to leave the school you attend. If you wouldn't be happy with that, then I would strongly advise a retake and try again next cycle. Just my two cents
I do assume that, and I'm satisfied with the schools that have accepted me. I ont applied to schools that I would be okay with attending. I'm just saying that I could possibly transfer if I excel. If not, then I just take the bar like everyone else. I have the good fortune of having a job when I graduate. I do care about my education and future job prospects is all.

"decision made" just now via status checker. Decision letter mailed out today as well. My status check now shows the seat deposit amounts and due dates. I'm assuming that implies an acceptance.....?

Anybody see any status movement today? For some reason, I had a feeling that today was the day...but I was wrong.

Is the Presidential scholarship different from the normal scholly money they give out?

Edit: okay, I checked out what the Presidential Scholarship is, and now I'm confused. My undergrad isn't on the list of participating schools, and my GPA is below 3.5, so according to the explanation on the site, I'm technically ineligible for it. I'm not complaining or anything, but I'm not sure how I got this.

http://www.law.ttu.edu/prospective/fina ... olarships/. I got a Regents. I really have no idea what they all mean exactly, besides what is on that site

Edit for your edit: it seems pretty selective/prestigious, having to be nominated and then accepted. I'm sure a phone call to dean Perez would give you more information. I'm curious to know too

Umm... Where do I want to practice? I really have no preference. I would be fine in either Nebraska or Texas I think. I'm pretty sure I don't want to practice in Utah or Idaho (the only places I have ties) which is leading me to venture beyond the immediate area.

I have scholarships to some lower ranked schools as well as $1,000 + Out-of-state waiver to Tech with the only stipulation being good standing. I could potentially get resident tuition at Nebraska, but for now it's full out-of-state. I don't like a lot of debt, but a little seems necessary.

Hiya folks!

Just returned home from the Tech reception here in lovely Austin, TX.

Nice folks they have there from Tech. Small open bar and food included.

To be honest, I turned out more impressed than I thought I would be, and actually got some very no-nonsense, no BS answers to my questions from some Tech alums.

While Lubbock may not make my list of glamorous places to move to, the in-state tuition, bar passage rate, and externship(s) are sounding much better to me now.

Any questions? Feel free to PM me or ask in here.

Dean Perez created the Tech Law 2015 group for the people that had been asking.

Sa-weet! Thanks for posting the link. Request to join the group is sent. Hopefully it turns out to be a good way to meet everyone headed to Lubbock in the coming months.

I'm hesitant to join... This is a great way to get a feel for who's going via facebook stalking...

But...

I just don't know if I'm ready for that kind of commitment. I'm still really high on Nebraska too...

Should I join guys?

Also...

I've looked on Lubbock apartments, but can anyone recommend a good apartment in the $600 to $800 range?

I just withdrew. I had a full scholarship, so maybe someone else will get that.

I just checked my status and it said- Withdrawn. Just not that into us?
Tech is so good with the goofy status checker messages.

Hilarious...a law school with a sense of humor. Refreshing, in a way.

Hey y'all,

On my status checker, it says "Movin' right along...File in Review."
However, at the bottom, in the FEES section, I see this:
Fees
Fee type Date Due Amt. Due Amt. Paid Date Paid

Early Decision - Final Deposit 0.00 .00
Reg. Decision - 1st Deposit 0.00 .00
Reg. Decision - Final Deposit 0.00 .00

Does this mean anything?

Mine said that the whole time I was in review, and I was accepted.

I think this is pretty standard status checker fare. I think it's when the dates show up next to the deposit that it means you're in. Good luck!

Got an email about TT's dual JD / MBA today. I was pretty intrigued, especially since it can be completed in three years total (aren't many such programs an extra year?). I know the general wisdom here is that dual degree ares useless, but given the fluctuations in the legal market and the fact that I am currently a low-level functionary in the financial field, I feel like the MBA might give me the security to at least return to my present field after gaining me degree(s) and be better position (though my goal would be legal education).
